Karthika Nair in Rajesh Pillai's Next Film Gold
Karthika Nair Who had made her introduction in Malayalam films last year with Lenin Rajendran’s ‘Makaramanju’ will in all probability do the female lead role in Rajesh Pillai’s new film that has been titled ‘Gold’. Karthika would play the role of an athlete in the film.
The Film “Gold”, the female oriented film that spins around a woman sportsperson, who represents the country at international sport events.
This new project noteworthy is the fact that it’s about women athletes in the country, and in the director’s own words, “the hardworking sportspersons who bring laurels, but often remain unsung talents. It’s about their journey of sweat, joy and at times, tears.”
She has some very promising projects in her kitty at the moment.
‘Gold’ will be scripted by Shankar Ramakrishnan who had earlier directed the short film ‘Island Express’ that was a part of the Kerala Cafe anthology. Shankar had also scripted the Prithviraj film ‘Urumi’ that had won accolades all over. Hopefully, when Rajesh and Shankar join hands for a project, they should strike ‘Gold’

Karthika to play an ultra-glam chic in Dammu
"Films with a rural background have been the in-thing in the South for a while now. But Bharathiraja has always been the master of the genre. AK will surely bear his inimitable trademark."
Tollywood director Boyapati Srinu's Dammu has her romancing Junior NTR. The mega-budget flick, Karthika says, is a commercial potboiler with all the essential ingredients of a hit. There's more in store on the Kollywood front, claims the actress.
Karthika will play an ultra-glam chic in the Telugu flick Dammu.
Bill better at the moment than actress Karthika Nair does. While she plays a rustic village belle in Kollywood film director Bharathiraja's comeback flick Annakodiyum Kodiveeranum (AK), Karthika will play an ultra-glam chic in the Telugu flick Dammu, both of which she's shooting for almost simultaneously. "It's challenging to be working on two films that have me playing roles that are so different from each other. Only a few lucky actors have such good fortune in their career," says the actress from the location of AK, in Theni. "I play four stages in Annakodi's life - her childhood, teenage, youth and old age, so that's a litmus test of sorts," says Karthika.

In Annakodiyum Kodiveeranum
A legend Bharathiraja is getting ready to direct a movie after a gap of 3 years.
He launched his new project Annakodiyum Kodiveeranum
He is the man who is credited with taking Tamil cinema out of the confines of studios and bringing it out into the open, showing villages and the earth in all its charm. He succeeded in bringing his village to cinema.
Coming to the details of Annakodiyum Kodiveeranum; it will star Ameer, Iniya (Vaagai Sooda Vaa) and Karthika Nair in the lead roles.
Apart from them, there will be a new face hand picked by Bharathiraja from Theni
It was confirmed when Ameer showed amazing commitment when given a task to perform. The task was simple for villager, but not so for a city bred man, to lift a 30 Kg. goat on his shoulders and run fast for quite a distance. The way Ameer did it clinched the role for him, said Bharathiraja. Iniya was chosen because of her amazingly expressive eyes which spoke volumes in Vaagai Sooda Vaa. He added that he was proud that having launched the film career of Radha, he was now going to direct her daughter Karthika. He expressed hope that he would be able to direct even the next generation from the family.

Shooting spot of the song "Amali Thumili" - Preikestolen - West Norway
When the glaciers carved Norway out of the living rock, the ice giants must have created Preikestolen with BASE jumpers in mind.
This unusually shaped, massive rectangular cliff rises 604m above Lysefjorden. The name Preikestolen translates to Preacher's Pulpit or Pulpit Rock. It is situated almost at exactly the opposite side of the fjord from another well-known natural oddity Kjeragbolten rock, and in close proximity to the city of Stavanger.
The top of the cliff is almost a perfect square, 25m by 25m wide, and completely flat, which makes it a perfect platform
In ancient times the cliff might have been used in pagan religious ceremonies, perhaps as a place of sacrifice. Preikestolen is also one a favorite picnic and hiking destination.

'Makaramanju' tells two stories of love - that of a painter, and of his creation. This is a period film, a biopic on the life of legendary painter Raja Ravi Varma.
In 'Makaramanju' there are three heroines in the film – Nithya Menon (who came up with a sterling performance in ‘Happy Journey' and ‘Kerala Cafe'), Karthika (yesteryear actor Radha's daughter) and Lakshmi Sharma.
Raja Ravi Varma sets out to paint a masterpiece based on the mythological character of Pururavas. Pururavas was a king, who fell in love with the beautiful nymph, Urvashi (Karthika). Raja Ravi Varma also falls in love with his muse named Anjali Bai (Karthika).
The film is beautifully shot, on location at the lovely Kanakakunnu Palace itself (fittingly because Raja Ravi Varma spent his early creative years just down the road at the Kaudiar Palace), in Mumbai, and in forests in the Western Ghats.
The film is a visual treat -- full marks to cinematographer Madhu Ambat -- with fabulous green vistas, the contrasting vermilion red of kumkumam and the palace walls, and the silken, sandalwood skin of the beautiful young models.
The film is almost a painting transformed onto celluloid.
The film has three songs composed by Pandit Ramesh Narayanan, and the lyrics have been penned by Kavalam Narayana Panicker and K. Jayakumar. Hariharan, Sujatha, Srinivas, Anuradha Sriram and Madangi have lent their voices for the songs.
Makara Manju was a tough experience: Karthika Nair
Karthika plays a double role for the first time in her debut Malayalam movie, directed by Lenin Rajendran. Her roles are that of divine dancer Urvashi and Sugandha Bahi.
She says it was difficult to get under the skins of both the characters. She adds proudly that she was able to do justice to both roles. She is also happy to have worked with legends such as Santosh Sivan, Madhu Ambat and Lenin Rajendran.

KO MOVIE REVIEW - A tribute to the star of this film - the camera. Director KV Anand
It is complete entertainer package with - a juicy premise, a good star cast, foot tapping music and of course interesting foreign locations and the director’s love for making stylish and colorful films.
The story of the film is the tangled lives of an adventurous, honest, intelligent photo journalist Ashwin (Jeeva) and an aspiring young politician Vasanthan (Ajmal)
The Ashwin happens to be a photo journalist with the Dina Anjal Tamil daily. The body language and passion of a photographer to click pictures are brought out well by Jiiva
Renuka Narayanan alias Renu (Karthika) works as the chief reporter for Dina Anjal, newly transferred from Madurai. With her dark eyes and well-made up face, she displays a confidence in front of the camera.
Among the others in the lead cast it is Saro (Piaa) bubbly character, who also a reporter of Dina Anjal
Both are Ashwin’s colleagues and fellow journalists
Saro scores a bit higher than Karthika and Ajmal. Her small yet meaty role gives her scope and she has a good screen presence. She shows her ability in the scene where she gets emotional knowing Ashwin loves Renu and not her.
Vasanthan Perumal (Ajmal) play an aspiring politician is a perfect choice to - his looks, build and dialogue delivery elevates the character he plays.
The director has aptly mixed intelligent and commercial cinema in Ko.
The events that hold the film together are fresh and albeit a straight forward story, it offers some interesting twists and turns that makes the audience eager for more
The twist in climax is the biggest plus.
Richard M Nathan's camera enters light, glitz and glamour.
Editor Anthony has shown a natural understanding the story.
Harris Jeyaraj's Ennamo Edho is obviously the pick of the lot. The background score is fast as the screenplay moves, simply brilliant and remarkable work
K V Anand's screenplay moves speedily during the first half, twists slightly in the second and turns to keep you occupied

#1 Aga Naga...
Singers: Vijay Prakash, Tippu, Ranina Reddy, Priya Subramani & Solar Sai
Rap & Lyrics: Srik & Emcee Jesz
Lyrics: Pa. Vijay
Harris Jayaraj arrives with a power-pumping party song and it’s gonna be a big blast for the season. ‘Aga Naga’, is a complete hip hop song, The DJ factor is very much present and for the first time we hear the music director making use of sound orchestration. The song opens with the style of ‘Dhaam Dhoom’ title number. It takes a minute for the song to gain the momentum followed by jazzy experience. The rap lines by Srik and Emcee Jesz which creates a vibe and stays over the song completely which are the spotlighting features. Harris has chosen the finest modern-day singers and they have done a good job. It’s a song where you feel like hearing again and again at least for the lyrics and the beats.
#2 Amali Thumali...
Singers : Hariharan, Swetha Mohan & Chinmayi
The song sounds okay for the first time and is one of the random peppy song The music director is always known blending his very own compositions that has been evident in his previous albums. Hariharan, Swetha Mohan and Chinmayee have spelled with best intonation. Hariharan’s and Chinmayi’s modulation is quite effortless, could have done wonders with this song. The music on accompaniment is commendable. The song may gain more popularity with the visuals rather than music.
#3 Ennamo Yeadho...
Singers: Aalaap Raju & Prashanthini
Rap & Lyrics: Sricharan & Emcee Jesz
‘Ennamo Yeadho’ is the cherry-pick of this album. The song has finest clarity in both vocalisms and instrumental quotients. Aalap Raju striking back with yet another captivating number. This song wouldn’t be new to us, as this song has been repeated in the teasers and it’s one of the best song of the album. Rap lines by Sricharan and Emcee Jesz are peppy and are sure to capture the senses of listeners for the first time itself. Aalaap Raju and Prashanthini’s coordination of the song is so quirky and everything is perfect in this track. Karky comes up with an impressive work. The fill-ins are very well orchestrated that happens to be the icing of the cake.
#4 Gala Gala...
Singers: Tippu, Krish, Haricharan & Sayonara Phili
Harris Jayaraj has chosen a league of young and happening singers to bring the youthful feel. Much like ‘Aga Naga’, this song shoots a line of singers like Tippu, Krish, Haricharan and Sayonara Phili. It’s been a long time we heard the electrifying voice of Sayonara after Rajnikanth’s ‘Athiradi’ song in ‘Sivaji’. She rocks with her bold intonation. The lyrical lines by Kabilan are passable.
#5 Netri Pottil
Singers: Naresh Iyer
Anthem of Youth – It’s best term to mark it so. The song opens with an interlude on electronic piano followed by male chorus. The song blows up the overpowering realms of youth at the present and thereby marks the endeavoring feats of youngsters. Naresh Iyer picks a perfect modulation adhering to the nature of song.
Singers: Sriram Parthasarathy & Bombay Jayashree
Lyrics: Pa. Vijay
The song is too melodious and mesmerizing. Harris Jayaraj ropes Sriram Parthasarathy and Bombay Jayashree as they’re far-famed for rendering such numbers and have splendidly excelled. It sounds like a situational song and will go on making good waves with repeated hearing, So soothing with both instrumentals and vocalisms, the song boasts of elegance with the rendition of Bombay Jayashree and Sriram Parthasarathy are just inevitable. This song would be for all ages where you can listen to it again and again.
