A Note about the List

This list of the top Keanu Reeves movies is actually arranged by votes cast by visitors to this page over the course of several years. Unfortunately, after the transfer to HubPages, voting is no longer available. However, you can still see which movies gathered the most attention, as they are closer to the top of the rankings.

One of my favorite fantasy movies starring Keanu Reeves.

My Favorite Movies with Keanu Reeves

Like most people, I really enjoyed the Matrix trilogy (although I still think the first one was the best). These movies are a cult-classic now, and there's no denying Reeves is a part of it. Many people criticize him for his supposed lack of expressions, but I think he was perfectly suited for the role of Neo.

My second favorite has to be Constantine. I love sci-fi and fantasy movies, so these two selections really shouldn't be a surprise. Keanu plays John Constantine, a cynical exorcist who has to prevent demons from invading our world. I thought the detached attitude of Reeves suited Constantine's character, who knew that he would die from lung cancer soon, and was doomed to hell no matter what he did. The other really memorable character for me was Gabriel (played by Tilda Swinton).

Possible Upcoming Keanu Reeves Movies

The following movies sounded promising, but it's not very likely they will see the light of day now. Still... who knows?

  • Cowboy Bebop live action movie was supposed to be adapted from the popular sci-fi anime film and series sharing the same name, with Keanu Reeves playing the role of the main character, a young bounty hunter named Spike. The fate of the movie is unclear; it was undergoing some rewrites in hopes of reducing the required filming budget, which was apparently around half a billion dollars.
  • Jekyll was said to be a new retelling of The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde based on Robert Louis Stevenson's novella. Keanu Reeves was rumored to star as the main character with the split personality (Dr. Jekyll / Mr. Hyde), a potentially controversial casting decision.
