Top 10 Kids Movies 2013!
Listed in order of how much I really enjoyed them.
Disney's Frozen Based on The Snow Queen
1. Frozen
Disney's latest adventure is another adaptation of a Christian Anderson book - The Snow Queen. Just like they did with Tangled, they have improved the story and given it an almost Shrek like twist. There are some really great characters, my favorite being the talking Snowman who finds himself in lots of sticky situations.
However, the story is about a pair of sisters. One is the Snow Queen and has brought an eternal Winter to the land. The other sister must find a way to bring sunshine and laughter back to the world and even to her sister. There are some great songs sung by Idina Menzel and Kristen Bell is super cute too.
This movie isn't just for young kid. It's great fun for the whole family.
So sit back and enjoy this magical fairy tale and musical which is the perfect backdrop to Christmas and Winter.

2. Despicable Me 2
The Best Kids Movie 2013 For Little Kids
Gru is back and so are the minions! It feels like ages since these like workers were running around our screenings with their funny little noises. Well this time around they are just as funny, if not funnier, than the first time we met them.
In Despicable Me 2, Gru has retired from the dastardly work of being a villain. Instead, he is concentrating on raising his three little girls. He would do anything for those girls, including dressing up as a fairy. (He really does this and it's so funny).
However, there is a new threat and Gru is called in to help figure out who stole a special serum, that turns nice things evil. He has to go undercover, with a female operative, to discover who the new wrongdoer is. Meanwhile, he still has to balance being a dad and dealing with the oldest girl dating, the minions disappearing and even he begins dating, reluctantly.
Although it looks like this movie is just for kid, it was one of he funniest movies I watched this year. I would recommend it to everyone that has kids, but also those who want some lighthearted fun and entertainment.

3. Monsters University
Sully and Mike are Back!
Our favorite green and blue monsters return and this time we get to see them when they were younger. Mike and Sulley are at Monsters University learning to be Scarers! Yeah!!!
Mike is all book smart and we find out what inspired him to want to scare little kids. We see just how small and cute he was as a little monster at school and how he stuck in at the books to learn his craft. Meanwhile, Sulley is the complete opposite and comes from a long line of Scarers. He's expected to ace Scare School but doesn't think he has to study to achieve.
When Mike and Sulley struggle in class they begin to realize that they will have to work together, if they have any chance of getting the job they have always wanted.
It's really cool seeing Monster Sororities and Fraternities. There are new characters to meet and this is a real feel good movie. There are sad parts but there are lots of laugh out loud moments too. Really young kids might find the Principle of the University a little scary (She's a really creepy monster), but apart from that it's not as scary as you'd expect.
Instead, the movie teaches that it doesn't matter what you look like. You can achieve your dreams, it just might take you longer to get there but you should never give up!

How much do you love new kids movies?
4. Oz The Great and Powerful
Kids Will Love the Prequel to The Wizard of Oz
Remember the Wizard of Oz that tried to help Dorothy return home? Well Oz the Great and Powerful is a prequel to the movie and is the tale of how a normal man, who was an illusionist, became the great Wizard of Oz. You see he was also from Kansas and his arrival was foretold. He has a destiny to help the people of Oz deal with the Wicked Witch. However, he's not really a magician and he doesn't know the rules and he's way over his head on this one.
This film has amazing animation effects and wonderful new creatures to meet. It's also got some big names in the cast including Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz and Michelle Williams. However, there will be some scary parts so really young children may need their hand held or a hug at certain parts.
I loved watching Oz the Great and Powerful. The costumes were amazing, along with new characters and also the classic ones we recognize from The Wizard of Oz. The story behind how a good witch transformed into the Wicked Witch is not to be missed, and the actual transformation was mesmerizing. And I also saw where the ruby slippers came from and felt bad for the once good witch.

5. The Croods
Go Back in Time For an Adventure
The Croods is one of the best animated movies of 2013. It's got a great cast including Ryan Reynolds and Nicolas Cage.
Dreamworks took a leaf from the Disney playbook and gave audiences a female lead! Although she is backed up by her Dad, after she doesn't listen to him of course.
The Croods is set in prehistoric times when people lived in caves. A protective caveman tells his family never to leave the cave. Except one day, curiosity gets the better of his eldest daughter and she finds herself looking at the rest of the world. The family quickly follows, but disaster strikes!
There's a character for everyone. There's an old granny, a protective father, a dumb brother and a daughter who just wants to be independent and do her own thing. There's also an ultra cute little cave girl that will make you go awww. This is another reason The Croods makes the top 10 kids movies 2013 list.
If you liked Ice Age then you'll love the Croods!
After watching the movie I wanted my own prehistoric pet just like Belt. He was so cute and funny and endearing. He's the best kind of friend you'd want and you know he'd always be there for you. Super cute and I bet a popular item on lots of kids Christmas wish list!

6. Iron Man 3
The Best Superhero of 2013?
Robert Downey Jr is back as Iron Man 3. This is definitely my favorite superhero movie of 2013, although Thor The Dark World was pretty good too!
This time around, Stark has his work cut out for him. He's attacked fairly early on in the movie and Ms Potts is taken hostage. He'll have to try to figure out what an old associate is up to, played by Guy Pearce, and where the real threat lies.
Meanwhile, audiences will get to meet more Iron men and can pick their favorite versions. There are so many awesome Iron man costumes to choose from including a very Patriotic one too!
Although this movie is really cool for kids, it might be better for kids over ten years old, as there are a lot of scenes where people get blown to bits. And there are scenes where people are clearly going to "do it", so if you want to avoid the embarrassing questions.....

7. The Hunger Games - Catching Fire
The 2nd Installment of The Hunger Games
Jennifer Lawrence returns as arrow wielding savior in The Hunger Games - Catching Fire. She thinks the games are over now that she has returned home and has managed to save not only herself, but also Peta. However, now things are awkward with Gale.
Katniss is secretly struggling to deal with the trauma of being in the games, and having killed other kids. Peta still loves Katniss, even though he knows everything in the games was for show. Gale questions Katniss' real feelings for Peta. Meanwhile, there are signs of an uprising in a number of the Districts as they saw a little girl defy the Capitol.
President Snow convinces Katniss to continue to be in love with Peta on screen, in order to smooth the tension in the Districts. However, when this doesn't work he takes drastic action and decides to hold a special Hunger Games to commemorate the 75th year of the games. This time only previous victors will be able to fight to the death, and there will be only one winner.
As Katniss is the only female winner from District 12, she already knows she will be competing again. However, what she doesn't know is that the other victors have a special plan of their own. One that could save Katniss' life but could cost her everything else she holds dearly in return. And by the time she figures it out, it's too late!
Needless to say, this is a movie more geared towards older children. There's lots of killing, threats and politics. I loved the action scenes, the subtle story line underneath and also the relationships we discovered the other victors have.

8. Thor - The Dark World
Chris Helmsworth and Natalie Portman return in The Dark World.
An old threat has come out of hiding just as the planets are aligning which will lead to a momentous occasion where the planets will overlap and be in the same place. This ancient race can only release a great evil during this particular event, and if they succeed they will plunge all the worlds into eternal darkness.
Only Thor, with Loki's help, can stop this from happening. However, it's not that simple as this evil has decided to use Jane Foster as it's host. Thor has to decide if the human woman he loves is worth more than the universe and his birthright of becoming the next Asgardian King,
There's lots of action, and Thor looks great as any would be God should, but it's also about love and sacrifice. And of course, Loki is up to his usual tricks.

9. The Smurfs 2
Smurfs in Paris
The Smurfs return and this time their girl has been kidnapped!
Gargamel takes Smurfette to Paris as he needs her to make his own version of the Smurfs. He's made the Naughties and they are like Smurfs but they prefer mischief. The only problem is they are unable to harness the power of the Smurfs.
The other Smurfs have to return to the human world, work with their human friends and find Smurfette before Gargamel woes her with boutique shops in Paris and into sharing the secrets of the Smurfs!
This movie was funny, but I have to say I felt sorry for the cat.

10. The Mortal Instruments - City of Bones
Best New Teen Movie 2013
For supernatural fans this is likely to be the biggest movie of the year. And it's teen friendly too!
If you are suffering from Twilight withdrawals then you'll absolutely love what I am about to tell you. The Mortal Instruments - City of Bones book by Cassandra Clare was adapted into a movie and stayed very true to the books..
Why will Bella and Edward fans love this film? Well, for starters there's a love triangle just like in Twilight. Except, instead of it being between a Vampire and a Werewolf, it's between a human and a Shadow Hunter.
What's a Shadow Hunter I hear you asking? Well, they are special beings that look human, but they fight demons and other evil things and protect the human world, without us ever seeing or knowing about them. They are descended from Angels, but a young girl see's them kill someone at a nightclub. Her friend thinks she's crazy because there is nothing there. Only she can see them.
Clary finds out she's special and not a Mundane like the rest of us poor human folk. Indeed, she's a Shadow Hunter, like her mother and father. She would love to find out more from her mum but she can't as she has to discover who kidnapped her and why her memory has been tampered with.
When she comes face to face with her father for the first time, all her nightmares come true.
