It was announced in March 2018 that there will be a live-action adaptation of the comedy manga “Kyou kara Ore wa” by Nishimori Hiroyuki. The show was set to premiere last October. Quirky actor Kaku Kento played the lead character named Mitsuhashi Takashi. This is the first adaptation of the manga in about 21 years.

More details about the drama series adaptation

The show was directed by Fukuda Yuichi who also worked with the live-action of "Gintama", "Hentai Kamen" and "Super Salaryman Saenai-shi". Director Fukuda and Kaku Kento already worked together in the series "Super Salaryman Saenai-shi".

The story revolves around a blond delinquent highschool student Mitsuhashi Takashi. He has a cunning personality who does anything he wants in order to win. He partners up with fellow highschool student Ito Shinji (played by Ito Kentaro) who is serious and also has a strong sense of justice. Together, they conquer the world on various misadventures to become the greatest delinquents in Japan!

Seino Nana played as Akasaka Riko; Hashimoto Kanna as Hayakawa Kyoko, Taiga as Imai Katsutoshi, Yamamoto Yuma as Tanigawa Yasuo; Suzuki Nobuyuki etc.

Kaku Kento’s comment about his role

“He is cunning but he’s warm-hearted for his friends. He is also strong when it comes to fights. I want him to be a non-standard hero, well-loved and someone who can be imitated by children and not to be disliked. We want you to all laugh during Sunday nights so please look forward to it!"

All about the main star Kaku Kento

Kaku Kento, dearly known as Kakkun to his fans, is a TV, film and stageplay actor from Amuse Inc. He shares the same management with known Japanese actors like Miura Haruma, Sato Takeru and Kamiki Ryunosuke. He’s mostly well known with his comedic stints like "Tumbling" and "Ranma 1/2" but everyone was enticed with him when some were able to watch him in “N no Tame ni” and in “Chihayafuru Musubi”. He married fellow Japanese actress Eikura Nana in 2016 and both already have an offspring.

Writer’s Personal thoughts about “Kyou kara ore wa”

I am really a huge Kaku Kento fan so I was really happy when I read the news about this. He also humbly asked if he was mistaken for Yamazaki Kento for they both share the same name. He gladly accepted the role for the drama series and he is really excited about it as we have seen on his social media accounts. Kakkun also said that he’s a fan of the original material so he feels honoured to be part of the project.

This was actually the second time Kakkun starred as the main lead role. He also played as a delinquent in the drama series “Clover”. He starred as the main role in the said drama too. Even though this will be again a comedy drama for Kakkun and I am also happy for him, I would also love to see him in serious roles again.

"Kyou kara Ore wa" already finished airing in Japan last year. It was a super huge hit in Japan! Kaku Kento became well known. His followers on instagram skyrocketed to a million when the show was airing! I also enjoyed the whole show. It was really funny. It's a huge thanks to the director who brought out all the laughter in the series. I greatly recommend this Japanese drama to everyone!
