Larry's Country Diner

Updated on July 5, 2014

Welcome to Larry's Country Diner!

Best show on TV, cable or otherwise. If you like good, wholesome, old fashioned TV that's fit for the whole family, Larry's Country Diner on RFD-TV is the show for you. They showcase country music stars of the past and present that still make the older country sound, generally from the 1950's to the 1980's, but do have some new faces as well.

If you enjoy the old country western music, you'll love this show. But not just the music makes it special. They have little bits of comedy, Bible verses, history, and just folksy conversation like you were sitting on the front porch or, having lunch in a real casual diner.

If you have not watched this show, you should start. Check your local cable or satellite for the RFD-TV channel.

It's good TV!

Each show starts out with The Promise, a reading of a verse from The Bible. Followed by The Year Was...., with Larry filling in facts about a bygone year.

"Where the camera's always rolling, and we don't care!"

Larry Black

The host and creator.

Larry Black is the man behind the counter running things at The Diner. He keeps the chatter and jokes flowing, interacting with the guests, diners, and regulars. Larry has been around the country music business for many years, including being a DJ. He has put together Country Family Reunions, also showing on RFD-TV. Old time country fans owe a lot to Larry Black, keeping the spirit and tradition alive. He has put together one great American show.

Larry has also appeared in a few movies, like Ernest Goes to Camp and Ernest Scared Stupid.

The Sheriff, Jimmy Capps

Every diver needs a sheriff nearby to keep the characters in line. Jimmy Capps plays the bill. Jimmy is probably the premiere country guitarist alive, maybe of all time. He started in the early 60's and has been a session player for every country great who recorded since then. It would be impossible to list the royalty of country music stars that Jimmy has played for. Chances are, if you have a favorite star from the 60's to into the 2000's, he's played on their recordings.

The man is just awesome to watch in action as he plays along in such an artful and expert way with Larry's guests. You know The Sheriff has been doing this for a long time, as he just plays without a hitch. We'll bet he does very little rehearsing, if any. The man is simply the best.

Nadine Nadine!

A little bit in the genre of Minnie Pearl, Nadine, the church lady, graces Larry's Diner each week with her wit, jokes, and of course, her charm. Her updates on the church sign are food for thought, as well as humorous. An example of her church sign would be something like this: Become a fisher of men. You catch 'em, He'll clean 'em!

The Diner would not be the same without Nadine. Making jokes about old age as she wolfs down pie ala mode.

Keith Bilbrey

Sidekick, emcee, joker, straight man, jack of all words.

The familiar voice of Keith Bilbrey welcomes one into the diner like an old friend. Keith's a legend in the radio broadcasting business and has been an announcer on the Grand Ole Opry. He's hosted shows on the old TNN network. Yes indeed, Keith is a down home soul that warms the diner with his personable disposition. Always with a quick joke, comeback, one liner, and has a wealth of country music knowledge.

Renae The Waitress

Renae works like she's a real waitress. And on the show, she really is! She got the part by default. Renae was Larry's secretary for many years. When a waitress was needed, she was a natural. We sure wish all waitresses were as warm and goodhearted as she is. The Diner would not be the same without Renae. She takes ribbings and comes right back with the best of them.

Renae has her own website at:
