An Honest Review of Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy
Will Ferrell Shines in Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy
In the summer of 2004, I was a brand new mom who spent a ton of time sitting on the couch watching movies and going to the theater. One of my favorite movies during this period was Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. I loved and still love the movie for a variety of reasons. First and foremost, I think Will Ferrell is one of the funniest comedians on the planet, and as a child, I always wanted to be an anchorperson.
A Synopsis of Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy
This film is set in the 70s, an era where broadcasting was dominated by men. Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell) is the numero uno broadcaster in the San Diego area and a chauvinistic pig as well. When a beautiful and ambitious journalist, Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate), threatens Ron's job and his manhood, Ron crumbles under the pressure. Soon Ron and Veronica are engaged in a bitter war. The end result is that there will only be room for one top broadcaster behind the news desk, and both Ron and Veronica are willing to do anything to get the top spot.
Anchorman Features an All-Star Cast
Along with a great storyline, Anchorman did very well at the box office thanks to an incredibly talented cast. In addition to Ferrell and Applegate, this film also features the comedic genius of Paul Rudd, Steve Carrell, David Koechner, Fred Willard, Chris Parnell, Seth Rogen, Danny Trejo, and many others.
Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues
Nearly nine years after the first, audiences everywhere will finally get their wish when the Anchorman sequel is released on December 20, 2013. This film will feature a brand new Ron in a brand new location; New York City. Many of the cast from the first film will return, and several Hollywood all-stars such as Amy Poehler, Vince Vaughn, Harrison Ford, Kristen Wiig, Nicole Kidman, Kirsten Dunst, and many others will be joining in on the hilarity as well.
My Personal Recommendation
I would recommend this laugh out loud film to anyone who loves Will Ferrell, is a fan of SNL, or simply likes comedies. To make sure you don't miss a beat when the new Anchorman is released, make sure you add the original to your collection today.

Despite the success of the original Anchorman and its sequel the comedy won't become a trilogy. When asked about the possibility of a third Anchorman movie, the film's director Adam McKay said he "is done with the movie."
