Learn To Play Violin Online

Updated on September 9, 2013

"For 37 years I've practiced 14 hours a day, and now they call me a genius."

~ Pablo de Sarasate, violinist

There is a common assumption that violin is extremely difficult to learn. Is that true? Yes and no. It's definitely not easy, that's for sure. And violin is certainly not the kind of instrument that you would just pick up and start playing. But with the right instructions, learning it is probably much easier than most people assume.

Violin is a wonderful instrument that can produce the most beautiful sounds. Like any other musical instrument, it requires a great deal of patience, hard work and study. There are no shortcuts. If you want to become any good at playing violin, you'll have to put in the necessary amount of time and effort.

But you will need more than just time and effort - you will need good instructions. Without good instructions, you are embarking on mission impossible.

Violin Lessons For Beginners

Violin lessons for beginners play an important role in helping novices to better understand their instrument. At the beginning it's very important to learn the basics and develop good habits right from the start.

Every beginner needs lessons. The best way would be to learn from a master, someone with a lot of experience who can teach you everything from the most essential basics to the most advanced techniques.

Unfortunately, such masters aren't easily available and don't come cheap. Private tutoring can cost you a substantial amount of money. But in this day and age, there are alternatives.

Internet to the rescue! Today, thanks to the modern technology, it's possible to learn from a master at a fraction of the cost of a flesh and blood violin teacher. Think online video lessons.

These lessons can to some extent replace flesh and blood teacher. Of course, there are limitations, because the teacher isn't physically present, so if you can afford a private tutor, by all means - go for it. But for those who are looking for an affordable way to start learning this wonderful instrument, it's a good and effective way to get what you need most - good video/audio instructions.

Always remember, it's never too late to learn the violin, but be prepared to put in the necessary amount of work. And of course - get yourself some good instructions.
