Addicted To Love by Robert Palmer
About Robert Palmer and Addicted To Love
Addicted To Love is probably the best known song from the late singer/songwriter Robert Palmer.
Robert Palmer was an English Singer/Songwriter, born on the 19th January 1949 and sadly passed away on 26 September 2003, in Paris France, of a heart attack.
He joined his first band at the age of 15 while still at high school in Yorkshire, and in 1970 he joined the 12-piece jazz-rock fusion band Dada, which featured singer Elkie Brooks.
Robert signed with Island records in 1974. His first single was a cover of Little Feat's Sailin' Shoes, which was a minor hit in the UK, but both the album and single reached the Top 100 in the US.
He crossed the Atlantic to New York in 1975, where he released his next album Pressure Drop, which contained a mix of Rock and Reggae.
His next album failed to chart however, and he moved again, this time to The Bahamas.
Double Fun, his next album, released in 1978 , was a mix of Caribbean influenced Rock. Every Kinda People from that album has become one of Robert Palmer's best loved songs.
The early 80's saw a mix of success and faulure, but then in 1985 Robert Palmer had his great breakthrough. The album Riptide released in that year featured the number one single Addicted To Love, which earned him a Grammy Award for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance.
The years to come saw a mixed success in the charts, but a growing cult following around the world.
Addicted To Love is probably best know by a lot of people for it's use in the 1988 hit movie Cocktail starring Tom Cruise.
Song Lyrics: Addicted To Love by Robert Palmer
Written by: Robert Palmer from the Album: "Riptide" - 1985
Your lights are on, but you're not home
Your mind is not your own
Your heart sweats, your body shakes
Another kiss is what it takes
You can't sleep, you can't eat
There's no doubt, you're in deep
Your throat is tight, you can't breathe
Another kiss is all you need
Whoa, you like to think that you're immune to the stuff, oh yeah
It's closer to the truth to say you can't get enough
You know you're gonna have to face it, you're addicted to love
You see the signs, but you can't read
You're runnin' at a different speed
Your heart beats in double time
Another kiss and you'll be mine, a one track mind
You can't be saved
Oblivion is all you crave
If there's some left for you
You don't mind if you do
Whoa, you like to think that you're immune to the stuff, oh yeah
It's closer to the truth to say you can't get enough
You know you're gonna have to face it, you're addicted to love
Might as well face it, you're addicted to love
Might as well face it, you're addicted to love
Might as well face it, you're addicted to love
Might as well face it, you're addicted to love
Might as well face it, you're addicted to love
( guitar )
Your lights are on, but you're not home
Your will is not your own
You're heart sweats and teeth grind
Another kiss and you'll be mine
Whoa, you like to think that you're immune to the stuff, oh yeah
It's closer to the truth to say you can't get enough
You know you're gonna have to face it, you're addicted to love
Might as well face it, you're addicted to love
Might as well face it, you're addicted to love
Might as well face it, you're addicted to love
Might as well face it, you're addicted to love
Might as well face it, you're addicted to love
