Man of Steel Movie

Updated on April 22, 2013

Find out more about the Man of Steel Movie

The Man of Steel. The name conjures up a modern interpretation of classic comic book tale. Much like "the Dark Knight" does for the reboot and rebirth of the Batman franchise?

While the Batman movie has been unleashed on the world, and so far seem to be VERY well recieved, people are turning to the NEXT big superhero movie. And that movie is The Man of Steel.

But will Zack Snyders Superman reboot have the popularity and staying power of Christopher Nolan's Batman? Only time will tell, but it is time for a good superman reboot. Hopefully this character will get his due in a great re-interpretation of the classic comic book tale.

In this lens you will find full cast bios and news. Pictures from the upcoming movie. A spoiler free breakdown of the plot of Superman. The Current Trailer videos fro the upcoming Superman: Man of Steel movie... and a few more interesting tidbits. Enjoy the lens and enjoy the movie!

Man of Steel Cast

There are two big reasons to be excited about the Man of Steel movie.

The first reason is due to the production team being the one that worked on all of Christopher Nolan's "Dark Knight" movies, which may be the best comic book movies of all time.

The second reason is for the amazing cast that have signed to play in this movie. The quality of the actors they have acquired is stunning.

Just take a look at the major cast of the Man of Steel:

The Comic Con of late 2012 did a few things for the upcoming Superman movie.

1. The panel created a lot of buzz for the upcoming movie

2. The created a nice looking new poster

3. They shows some scenes from the movie...which look great

4. They released some early teaser type promo's

To be completely honest, I was a little bit worried that this Man of Steel might not live up to expectations, but I have to say that after hearing a bit more about it, my hopes have been raised for the upcoming Superman: Man of Steel movie!

What is the Man of Steel all about?

At this point, there have not been a lot of information leaked about the upcoming Superman movie. We know the actors, and of course the main story of superman has been done numerous times on both the big screen and the small screen.

Most people know the basics. Superman (played by Henry Cavill), was sent from another planet to Earth. Due to the special powers of this sun, he was given amazing super powers. He was raised in a small mid-western town by a sweet family known as the Kents (played by Kevin Costner and Diane Lane) and brought up to be a wholesome and good all American boy (with superpowers).

Eventually he goes to the big city (Metropolis) to make a career as a reporter, where he works for editor Perry White (Lawrence Fishburne) and falls in love with reporter Lois Lane (Amy Adams)

That is the basics, that every Superman movie will likely include. But there has been little mention of the drama that will unfold. All that has been revealed is that Superman will battle one of his classic enemies from his home world of Krypton, General Zod (played by Michael Shannon from Boardwalk Empire).

The movie is directed by Zach Synder, who has a "mixed bag" when it comes to movies. Some, like 300, have been great. Other like the Watchmen have been "Okay" and still other have been horrible, "Sucker Punch" and "Immortals". This leaves the fans of Superman a little bit unsure whether this will be more like Joel Shoemacher's Batman or Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight.

On the plus side, the production team from Dark Knight is also behind this movie, so we can hope that it will lean toward the latter.

Man of Steel Plush Doll

I find superhero plush dolls to be a fun and enjoyable toy for fans of the movies. They are a great way to give someone a superhero toy that is almost unbreakable, cute and a lot of fun.

These Funko dolls have a fun spin on the classic superhero toys. While many toys like the Avengers action figures may be a little more popular currently with kids, the Man of Steel will once again have his day after all these youngsters find out the story of Superman.

The Funko plush is a fun and enjoyable toy that anyone from children to adults will find a fun and enjoyable way to play with their favorite superhero, the powerful Superman.

@anonymous: I think the late 70's Superman with Christopher Reeve...the FIRST one... was pretty decent. But at very least it has been a LONG time since a decent Superman movie

It would be nice if there was a decent Superman movie. There hasn't been one yet.

I loves me some Superman. But try as I might I cannot get excited about this. I guess I have just been let down too many times since Chris Reeves.
