Man Of Steel On DVD
I'm excited to finally own a copy of man of steel on dvd. I've been a fan of the superman comics and the superman movies since I was a kid. I grew up watching Christopher Reeve play the role. To me superman has always been the bearer of truth and justice and also morality. The guy who could never bring harm to even the ones that tried to kill him so many times like Lex Luther. Also the guy who would rescue any cat from a tree. Superman to me has always been the superhero who is just perfect, has no struggles and makes no mistakes.
So how does Man of Steel portray the character of superman?
In his childhood years I think man of steel portrays superman as an outsider. Someone who feels alone as he struggles to come to grips with all the super powers he's beginning to realize he has. Then later on he struggles to find a job. He actually lands his first job very late in life. However, the big shocker is near the end of the movie when Superman actually kills Zod. At first I found that to be very shocking. The man of principle and morals killing someone. It was a shock. After thinking about the end in retrospect, he actually did it to save the life of another plus he did feel remorse about it. I think the aim of the writers was to portray superman as not perfect but human. He's a guy that has problems but overcome them and makes mistakes just like everyone of us. It's easy to say that superman isn't human. However, he was raised by humans and lives on planet earth. You would think that eventually he would start acting like a human. Honestly it's about time.
