Meet 3 Chart Topping, Global Singing Sensations - 'The Priests'!

Ms. Vincent is an M.B.A graduate, Business Consultant and health, wellness & natural healing enthusiast, who reads a lot on those subjects.

There is nothing more exhilarating and fulfilling in life than finding your true calling and being acclaimed for the excellence with which you 'do your thing'!

Well these 3 Irish Catholic Priests - Fathers Eugene O'Hagan, Martin O'Hagan & David Delargy - are part of the lucky few who have achieved this nirvana (heaven on earth), doing what they love best - SINGING!.

They sold more than 1 million copies worldwide of their first album, which was simply titled 'The Priests'! Sales were so phenomenally great that "In December 2008, they scooped the Guinness World Record for 'Fastest-selling UK debut for a classical act' " (The Priests, Wikipedia).

I think that the then Pope (Benedict XVI) received a heavenly sign about how great it would be because he gave them special permission to do some of the recordings for that album at St. Peter's Basilica in Rome.

That first album also topped the music charts in Ireland and Norway, was 2nd on the music charts in The Netherlands, New Zealand and Norway and came up 3rd on the Swedish music charts.

When you hear them sing, their voices meld together harmoniously with an ease that can only be explained by two (2) awe-inspiring facts:

  • 1. Two (2) of the priests are brothers; Fathers Eugene O'Hagan

  • and Martin O'Hagan.
  • 2. They have been singing together since their boarding school days; back in the 1970s.

How many childhood friendships are able to endure through time like theirs? How many friends get to share their calling in daily life?

They have produced three (3) full albums thus far - The Priests, Harmony and Noel. This album - Then Sings My Soul: The Best of The Priests - is a collection of their best pieces from those albums and my favourite album after their debut album 'The Priests'.

I leave you with an interview of this magnificent trio and I have also chosen five (5) of my favourite pieces from their singing for your listening enjoyment.

Remember, I told you that they are Irish? Well the final song is actually your Irish blessing in song from them :) Enjoy!

This or any one of their other albums will make a great present (gift) for anyone who loves classical and religious music.

When I attended St. Joseph's Convent, my choir mistress, Sr. Bernard Ngfan, had an ear for the sweetest pieces of music which I thoroughly enjoyed singing in her choir. This song has been a favourite of mine from way back when I sang in my secondary school choir.

This is another one of my favourites from my school choir days. Through my own ‘storms’ in life, I have found comfort in singing it aloud to myself.

Another really beautiful piece!

Listen to their pore raising rendition of this song.

YOUR Irish Blessings from 'The Priests'!

The Priests

This is the Chart topper that I raved about in my review. It was recorded by one of the major recording labels – SONY!

This was their 2nd recorded album. “It was released in November 2009 and has reaped platinum awards in Ireland and Sweden, where the album reached the No 1 spot in the Swedish charts just before Christmas 2009.”

This is ‘The Priests’ Christmas album with ageless Christmas songs like ‘Ding Dong Merrily on High’, ‘Silent Night’, ‘Away in a Manger’, ‘The Drummer Boy’ and more.
