Unlike the 1945 movie version of Mildred Pierce, which used an alternate ending than the novel, the 2011 version starring Kate Winslet in the title role, is a much closer adaptation to Cain's 1941 novel.

For one thing, the ending remains true to the novel, and the dialogue is nearly taken word for word from the book.

I remember my mom telling me about this movie when I was a kid. Now that I've read your lens, I recall that it was Joan Crawford's performance that impressed my mom. Thanks!
