Michael Jackson's Best Unreleased Songs

Michael Jackson, the King of Pop

We've moonwalked to "Billie Jean". We have danced the unique zombie steps to "Thriller". We have grooved to "Beat It" over and over again. We have felt a surge of inspiration from "Man in the Mirror". And we've relaxed to his utterly calming "Rock With You". Surely, these greatest hits by the late Michael Jackson have been proven to be the most popular and most favorite ones. Play the tunes to a random person on the street and you'll surely be given the right answer.

But little do most people know about the King of Pop's unreleased songs, well, unless you are an avid MJ fan who spends his/her time digging Youtube for these songs hoping for more music to ears. Many of these songs have been recorded way back to the Jackson Five era up to the Invincible era. The reasons they were not released are various--it could be because some of them were just simply not chosen for the album track listing, or because of some issues with the entertainment company.

Here are some of my personal favorites. Some of the previously unreleased tracks are included in "The Ultimate Collection" box set, which consists of four audio CDs and a DVD. Sink your teeth into them and discover more talent and artistry.

1. Someone Put Your Hand Out

A very beautiful song that was supposed to be in the Dangerous album. It was later included in "The Ultimate Collection".

2. Someone In the Dark

My current favorite and LSS, "Someone in the Dark" features Michael's crystal clear and calming voice that is perfect for nighttime listening before going to sleep. Unreleased from the "Thriller" album.

3. Love Never Felt So Good

A feel-good song to put you in a happy mood.

4. Streetwalker

"Streetwalker" makes me listen to it over and over again with its groovy intro and catchy tune. Previously unreleased, this song is now included in the Special Edition of the "Bad" album which was released in 2001.

5. Fly Away

Another previously unreleased track now listed in the "Bad Special Edition" album. This song has a very beautiful melody to relax you and even take you places.

6. Slave to the Rhythm

Produced by Tricky Stewart, this track has an extremely upbeat rhythm that makes you get up and really be a slave to it. It doesn't hurt to say that Michael has a very powerful voice here.

7. Sunset Driver

Trust me, the moment you hear this, you will instantly put this on repeat. It's just that funky!

8. Blue Gangsta

One of the upbeat, catchy songs in this list. The song is about being betrayed by a lover and wishing karma for her. This features MJ's deep voice.

9. Xscape

A favorite of many MJ fans. The intro beat to this song is catchy and fantastic. Also known as "Escape", it was recorded during the "Invincible" sessions, but was not included in the final track listing.

10. If You Don't Love Me

I just love this song! The chorus pretty much contains a series of rough, high-pitched "If-you-don't-love-me's", but that only adds to the merry melody of it! And oh, I consider this to be a rock song, taking into account the boisterous guitar and drums! One of the tracks recorded for the "Dangerous" album, this is certainly one of those rock songs that you can dance to, at least in your own room.

11. Cheater

Another fun song with a cool guitar riff in the beginning. Written by Michael Jackson and Greg Phillinganes, the song was supposed to appear in the "Bad" album, but was not included due to unspecified reasons. It was later included in "The Ultimate Collection".

12. Scared of the Moon

If you want a haunting song to put you to sleep at night, this one is for you. "Scared of the Moon" is a previously unreleased song now included in "The Ultimate Collection".

14. On The Line

Talk about an inspirational song! What I really love about this especially is the message! And the chorus, accompanied by amazing background vocals, never fails to give me chills. This track belongs to "The Ultimate Collection".

15. We've Had Enough

If you loved "Man in the Mirror" and "Earth Song", you will surely love this song, too. This has got to be another beautifully written song that aims to inspire people to take action and change the world.

Other unreleased/previously unreleased songs of Michael Jackson that I dig (Click to watch in YouTube):

Every time I feel really crappy and depressed (which happens a lot) and I turn on MJ Tunes.... "On The Line" comes on, and I hear Michael's laughter in my head. That's "our" song :)

Rt, thank you for your comment. You are right, but do you know that Sony will be releasing a new Bad album for its 25th anniversary this September? One of the CDs is gonna feature the previously unreleased tracks including some that I posted in this hub.

I appreciate your comment. Keep listening to great music.
