Best Chick Flicks
I'm sure most people have seen The Notebook (2004), but if you haven't it is a favorite love story based on the book written by Nicholas Sparks. Its is about a summer romance between Allie and Noah, 17 year old's during the 1940's. Through their arguing Allie (Rachel McAdams) and Noah (Ryan Gosling) ultimately fall in love, but Allie is set to leave the state for college in the fall. Noah writes to Allie every day for a year hoping to keep their romance alive, but Allies mother, who feel that she deserves better, keeps the letters from her. Allie eventually moves on and meets a handsome, rich man who her mother and father approves of and they get engaged. Through a series of events, fate bring Allie and Noah back together and Allie is forced to make a choice between the two of them.
A Walk to Remember
A Walk to Remember (2002) is about a high school boy, Landon (Shane West) who falls in love with Jamie (Mandy Moore), the last person he ever imagined he would fall in love with. He is punished for a prank on a classmate and is forced to join the school drama club. Jamie helps him rehearse the lines and prepare. While preforming he is blown away by Jamie's appearance and voice. He tries to get close to her but she constantly pushes him away at first.
I am sure most have seen Titanic (1997), but this is a classic that is about a romance between Rose (Kate Winslet), from a wealthy family, and Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio), a poor man on board of the Titanic. They find ways to be together even though she is engaged and her family would not approve. They would truely sacrifice everything for each other.
This movie was created by Sherwood Baptist Church. It is about a Caleb (Kirk Cameron) who is a firefighter with a troubled marriage. His wife, Catherine (Erin Bethea), always dreamed of marrying a firefighter, just like her father. She gets tired of fighting with Caleb because they can rarely agree on anything. Caleb's father gives him a 40 day challenge "The Love Dare," to restore their marriage and to put God at the center.
The Vow (2012), is based on a true story about Leo (Channing Tatum) and Paige (Rachel McAdams) a couple who gets in a car accident and the wife looses her memory. She remembers her childhood, but doesn't remember the past 5 years, including meeting and knowing her husband. To save their marriage he has to find a way to make her fall in love with him again.
The Lucky One
The Lucky One (2012) is about a marine played by Zac Effron who finds a picture of a woman right before his troop gets hit by a roadside bomb. When he returns home, he is determined to find the woman in the picture who saved his life. He finds her and through a series of events they fall in love. Their relationship is threatened when she find the picture, she gave to her brother to keep him safe overseas.
Leap Year (2010) is about a woman who is tired of waiting for her boyfriend of 4 years to propose. He just opened a restaurant and went to Ireland to look for venders. She decides to take matters into her own hands and propose to him in Ireland. It is an old Irish tradition that a woman can propose on leap day. Nothing goes as planned and when her flight is delayed she is forced to be driven by an Irish man over the course of two days.
The Proposal (2009) is about a needy, overbearing boss played by Sandra Bullock from Canada. Everyone in the office despises her, including her assistant played by Ryan Renolds. When she realizes that her visa is about to expire, she faces being deported. In order to prevent this, she tell the agent that she is getting married to her assistant. Surprisingly he goes along with this. To be convincing she tells them that she is going to Alaska with him, a trip that he had planned for his grandmothers birthday. His mother and grandmother are thrilled and work together to plan a wedding for them before they leave.
