My First Soundtrack: The Muppet Movie

Updated on March 4, 2016

Looking back it only took me a few moments to remember the first movie sound track I ever purchased. And yes kiddies it was on 8-track. And even more scary, I still own it. And the 8-track still plays. Now if only the player did. But in the good news the main song I enjoy from this album I still could quote word for word.

So what do you do when a song you love is not available due to electronic issues? You find another way to listen. In my case I looked around at the local stores and no luck. Even the used sections, nothing. Then one day Amazon sent me an email with some music choices. And there it was the Muppet Movie sound track. Just waiting for me. I proceeded to do two things. First I hit my head on the table because the one place I had not checked was Amazon. The second, signed into my account and ordered it.

Within moments I was listening. The first time was listening to ever track in order. I then listened to my favorite song over and over and over again. Something I couldn't do on the 8-track as it did not have a rewind button. Even when it was working. Lets here it for Gonzo the Great and "I'm Going to Go Back There Someday."

Now there are some differences between my old copy and the new one. Besides the obvious of I can play the music. There are a couple of songs that are just the instrumental versions. I don't remember them on my 8-track. Then again digital copies have more room then the older formats did.

One final note. I was not able to watch the move to listen to the songs as my copy is on VHS and the player is not working but the tape is still good. Looks like the next step will be to get this movie on Blue-Ray.

The first Muppet Movie is still the best. Now if only my VHS player still worked, he said with a smile.
