My Music: All Time Favorite Soundtracks
Music - The Universal Language!
'Music is the universal language of mankind' Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.
I couldn't agree more with him! It is diverse and colorful as the varying shades and hues of the colours in a rainbow and no matter what language you speak, you can always tell good music.
Music is a great 'mood-setter' - for a family barbecue, a romantic dinner, the office party, spiritual upliftment or revival, a 'rocking' party or jam session, getting the Christmas or Easter cleaning done, taking away Monday morning blues, a quiet evening at home, doing homework, finishing a project and the list goes on. In fact, I listened to my favourite music as I was making this lens.
I dont just love music. I love music and its two (2) derivatives - Singing and Dancing and like William Shakespeare, I believe that, 'Good music is music that transcends time.'
This lens is a collection of some of my all-time favourite songs, and musical artists from my favourite genres of music - Latin Music (Bachata, Salsa, Merengue), Reggae, Adult Contemporary (mostly love songs), Gospel & Christian Music and Calypso (Ole Time Calypso).
If you have as much SOUL as me, then you'll definitely love these all-time favorites. Enjoy!!!

Music is the best prayer for me. That's why I love singing in Church, while I am working and music is my best background companion when I'm working on the computer or doing house work.
In fact, God is just like me; He loves music! He loves Praise and Worship and in all accounts about heaven, there is always reference to music and singing. If I wasn't a Christian, I'd have to say like Jimi Hendrix, "Music is my religion".
There is nothing in the world so much like prayer as music is. ~ William P. Merrill
'Beauty for Ashes' - Crystal Lewis & Ron Kenoly
LATIN MUSIC (Bachata, Salsa, Merengue) - That's me! A Latin Diva below.
While visiting my brother and his family in the USA, I went to a Latin Club in Durham, since I must get in some dancing.
While dancing with a 'soulful' Latino, a Bachata started playing and I politely attempted to excuse myself, since the only Latin dances I cannot dance are Bachata and Tango. You see they are not played that much at Latin Clubs in the Caribbean.
Then he tells me not to worry because I am a good dancer, so I'll get the moves fast.
Well after dancing that Bachata, I now consider it my TOP Latin music and it is one of my FAVOURITE Latin dances, also. It is sexy, provocative and liberating!
'Yo Mismo La Vi' - Luis Vargas
Music was my refuge. I could crawl into the space between the notes and curl my back to loneliness. ~Maya Angelou, Gather Together in My Name

REGGAE - Meet a Caribbean Musical Legend!
In the Caribbean, Reggae artists have a known habit of producing 'male' and 'female' versions of songs. What this means is that the original artist does the song and then someone produces another version geared to the other sex. 'Waiting in Vain' is a good example of this.
Renowned Jamaican Reggae legend, Bob Marley wrote the song 'Waiting in Vain' and it was recorded by Bob Marley & The Wailers for his 1977 album "Exodus". It also forms part of the 1984 Album "Legend: The Best of Bob Marley and the Wailers"; and it truly is the best of them - I have the Album to prove it!
Then is 1995, Annie Lennox, a Scottish singer-songwriter did a "female" version of Bob Marley's 'Waiting in Vain', which to me was a TOTAL success. I am sure Bob Marley would have loved it!
VH1 called Annie Lennox "The Greatest White Soul Singer Alive". If you listen to her music, you'll understand why. For me, her BEST album is "Medusa". In fact, it was nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album at the 1996 Grammy Awards and Annie Lennox won the Grammy Award for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance for one of the songs on this album - "No More I Love You's". I LOVE EVERY song on that album! Here are both versions.

Love, romance, finding love, breakups, betrayal, losing love, broken hearts are by far the most popular songs sung the world over.
That's because these sets of emotions and circumstances are universal and visited on rich and poor alike. It doesn't matter your race, language, financial circumstances, social standing, religion, political beliefs, etcetera.

CALYPSO - The Caribbean's Best!
If you were at a Calypso Tent and heard a good Calypso, the MC would shout "Kaiso, Kaiso???" and the patrons would chorus "Kaiso, Kaiso!!!" as a sort of confirmation that they had just heard a good Calypso.
Calypso is much like my opening quote; it is about life. So the Ole Time Calypsonian sings serious commentary about things that are taking place in society, uses humour to talk about every day issues such as love, betrayal, "tabanka" (when you can't get over the fact that your man or woman has left you), in-laws, lies and deceit.
So it makes people think about real social issues or lightens the mood around commonly experienced but stressful family or love relationships.
Kaiso, Kaiso??? Now go listen to some of the Caribbean's best Calypsonians!
Music is what life sounds like. ~ Eric Olson

MUSIC IS FOREVER!!!
I hope there's a lot of music in Heaven, like they say. If not, then I'll have to agree with Domnico Cieri Estrada:
'If in the afterlife there is not music, we will have to import it.'
'My Life is in Your Hands' - Kirk Franklin
