What do NASCAR DOLLARS and Author Sharyn McCrumb have in common?

Dale Earnhardt, Sr.! That's What Sharyn McCrumb has in common with my NASCAR memorabilia!

Six Degrees of Separation (or Kevin Bacon - whatever)! Dale, Sr. touched (or was close to) my Talladega Superspeedway dollars and Sharyn McCrumb's creative genius!

On this page I will tell you the following: 1) how I got the $$$ - hey! NASCAR history; 2) ways you can use these "dollars"; 3) how you can buy this unique NASCAR memorabilia for your very own.

Also, I have included some information on two "racy" books by author Sharyn McCrumb. One has the ghost of Dale Earnhardt, Sr. as a character.

Once in a while I find some unique Dale, Sr. "thingy" (for example there is a McDonalds with a Dale Sr. Mural in southern Alabama!) and add it to this hub. (You will be surprised with all the trivia here!)

Thanks for visiting!

St. Dale by Sharyn McCrumb - A novel with a NASCAR Theme

I found this novel by Sharyn McCrumb several years ago at my local library. At first glance, I did not realize that the novel was about a fictional NASCAR bus tour. I just remembered meeting Ms. McCrumb several years ago at an author conference and I really liked her. At that time, she was mainly writing mysteries.

St. Dale
St. Dale

An absolutely fascinating read about a NASCAR bus tour that pays tribute to Dale Earnhardt. I learned some interesting trivia about the Intimidator.

Be sure to check out my article at NASCAR Fiction where I review this novel and several more books with a NASCAR theme.

How Did I Get These NASCAR Dollars?

These NASCAR $$$ were used as celebration confetti in the winner's circle at the Winston 500 October 17, 1999 Race at Talladega Superspeedway. These $$$ commemorate the 30th anniversary of the superspeedway and states this on the bill.

Dale Ernhardt, Sr. was the winner of that race.

At the time, my husband was a photographer employed by NASCAR. He picked up as many of the dollars as he could, brought them home, and stored them. They are a really neat collectible. They are also in near-perfect condition. Each $$$ measures 7"x 3".

The colors of the ink are red, black and metallic silver. The paper is Solid Green.

Here is a picture of my husband with Dale, Sr.(see it to the right). It was not taken on the day the dollars were collected, but at the next race that Dale won. The picture in the ad is just a cropped portion from a group photo of Dale and other photographers who happened to be in the Winner's Circle that day. Mr. Earnhardt saw how hard these guys were working and jumped a fence, handed the trophy to my husband and said so the crowd could hear, "Now you (meaning race officials and sponsors) take a picture of this!"

It was a great day for my husband. One he will always remember.

Above you see a picture of the front and the back of the NASCAR dollars. As stated before, the dollars are printed on solid green paper. The gray printing is metallic silver.

Of course, the actual dollars do not have "sample" written on them. Believe it or not, I have been asked.

What Can You Do with These Talladega Dollars?

Origami Race Cars?

They can be framed for your "NASCAR" home d├ęcor.

They can be laminated to make book marks.

You can use them to decoupage a box.

They can be used to decorate (ie. wallpaper border).

You can put them in your Dale Earnhardt, Sr. shrine! If you have used the dollars in this way, email me a picture!

You can put them in your wallet.

You can make an origami automobile. See the YouTube Video Below!

Yes, a car made from a dollar bill! It could even be a NASCAR Dollar Bill!

A McDonalds With A NASCAR Theme!!!

NASCAR McDonalds in Alabama!

Hey, yall. I discovered a NASCAR themed McDonalds in Phenix City, Alabama with a mural for Dale, SR.

Its address is: 1134 280 Bypass Phenix City, AL 36867.

What fun! It even had a display case with NASCAR diecast cars. Phenix City is south of Auburn/Opelika on Highway 280 heading toward Columbus, GA. Nice and Clean fast food Restaurant. Stop in and gawk at all the NASCAR stuff.

WWDD What would Dale Do? The above tee can be found on Zazzle. I do believe that Dale, Sr. would be so surprised that he still has so many fans. Dale Earnhardt, Sr. has become an icon in the NASCAR world. He is almost like Elvis. If you think that is the case, then you will love the book by Sharyn McCrumb that I told you about at the top of this hub.

WWDD tee is by john11m on Zazzle. Click WWDD above to see this collectible tee shirt.

What do you think of my NASCAR $$$? - Please! Tell me who you are.
