National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation

Updated on October 2, 2014

Our favorite family Christmas special. Every year shortly after Thanksgiving my husband, kids, and I all watch this on DVD.

In fact through the year we tend to quote scenes from the movie.

For instance if someone eats something that they like, they may say

"That is goooouuuud"

Or drinks something tasty... "It's good... it's good"

If something is lit up: "Is your house on fire Clark?"

If someone hears a soft sounds that no one else seems to hear: "you couldn't hear a dump truck driving through a nitroglycerine plant"

If someone doesn't know the answer to why something strange happened: "I don't know Margo!"

If you can't remember where these scenes came from I added the videos below.

So get your moose egg nog glasses out, crank the sound for Mavis, and grab a big bowl of popcorn... it's time to watch Christmas Vacation.

Opening Song for National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation - By Mavis Staples

Clark's Bonus Check - It's Good.. It's Good -- drinking form the egg nog bowl

Aunt Bethany - "Is your house on fire Clark?"

And why is the carpet all wet, Todd?

Audrey's frozen from the waist down - it's all part of the experience

We lived out of the country for a few years (before the internet). We had a few English movies on VHS - this was one of them. Great to watch - even after many times.

Love this movie! I just watched this on Christmas Day. It's kind of a family tradition along with The Grinch (cartoon) and Rudolph. Great lens!
