Tigger Has More to Share with Us Than Just Lots of Bouncy Fun

What is it about Tigger that makes him so likeable and fun to watch? Could it be his ever-present enthusiasm or maybe his abundant energy? Maybe it is an inner trait that is not so apparent on first sight but becomes clear the more you get to know the true Tigger. Whatever it is that draws us to enjoy the character of Tigger, there is no doubt that he possess an endearing favor and is loved and admired my millions all around the world.

In addition to his many other admirable traits, Tigger is a true friend to those he lives close to in the 100-acre wood. He bounces in and out of their daily routines, sometimes causing havoc with his energy and enthusiasm. However it is always apparent in the end that Tiggers friends would all be lost without the level of excitement he adds to their lives.

When my oldest son was pre-school age, we watched Pooh Corner on the Disney channel every weekday around eight am. His favorite character was Pooh Bear who was always ready to enjoy some honey from his hunny jar; but my favorite has always been Tigger and I will share some of my personal reasons why with you now.

Celebrate Being Unique - Tigger is No Copy Cat!

What's Special About Being Unique?

Tigger proclaims often, “The most wonderful thing about Tigger’s is I’m the only one!” The wisdom we can all learn from Tigger is to celebrate the things that are unique about ourselves everyday. When caught up in today's fast-paced world, it can be easy and often tempting to believe that we just don’t measure up to the achievements, beauty, possessions, or any one of a million other things that we see in others. However this is when one must fall back on the truth that every person is a unique individual, exactly like no one who lived before, no one who is alive today, or no one who will ever live in the future. Peace comes when celebrating this fact and it makes you very valuable because the core person you are deep inside could never be replaced. Therefore it makes perfect sense to simply be happy just being you.

Celebrate everyday by sharing your unique self, and then the world will benefit from a treasure that only you can give. Joy of life is sucked away when people try to be something they are not and also when they do things they are not meant to do.

If I may create an illustration of what Tigger may be like if he allowed an opposing view to cloud his existence and change the way he viewed his unique self. He very likely would bounce into a pit of gloom, unworthiness, and despair if he cried out and asked, “Why can’t I be like Pooh Bear and love honey like he does?” or “Why can’t I grow a garden as wonderful as Rabbit?” or maybe even, “Why does my bouncing sometimes lead to destruction; how come I’m not different and better?” BUT good for Tigger because he does not dwell on these thoughts, instead he chooses to bounce on high ground. He therefore is able to offer the gift of his unique self to all his friends and adds many positive aspects to their lives just by being Tigger!

Celebrating individual uniqueness is good advice for us all. Everyone benefits when we choose to take a page out of Tigger’s book where true joy, excitement, and adventure is found just by being you. Content and happy—nothing more, nothing less. Then bounce through life fulfilling your unique purpose and blessing the lives of others.

This is a great little story about how Tigger's bouncing caused trouble with all his friends and they asked him to leave. Then they all missed him terribly and found a compromise that worked for everyone. It's a great story for little children or Tigger loving adults ;)

Tigger Gifts from My Family

My kids knew how much I liked Tigger and over the years I received many Tigger treasures in my stocking--everything from Christmas ornaments to writing pens. I also got sweatshirts featuring "A Blustery Day in the 100-acre wood" and Tigger coffee mugs for my birthday that I received almost two decades ago!

@Scott A McCray: Yes, I can relate. My son just turned 34; he has fond memories of these shows & now watches Winnie the Pooh with his daughter.

When he was so busy in dental school, I sent him a DVD of Winnie the Pooh and Tigger for Valentine's Day so he could watch it, unwind a little, & return to a more care-free time--even if it was only a very short study break :)

I remember taking my kids to see these cartoons when they were little, and having lunch together at home afterword while playing with Winnie the Pooh toys. All wonderful memories.

Tigger is my favorite in the Hundred Acre Wood. I used to have so many Tigger items including an original Disney cell. He brings good cheer everywhere he goes. We can all use a Tigger in our lives.

Tigger antics were a wonderful wakeup for "morning-grumpy" son - at 35 I can still make him laugh remembering it...
