PARENTAL GUIDANCE SOUNDTRACK & Calvin Harris Song "Feel So Close to You" in Movie Trailer

Updated on July 20, 2013

Score by Marc Shaiman

Seventeen songs are featured on the Parental Guidance Soundtrack including music by Toni Basil, Phillip Phillips, Generationals, 1990s, London Bus Stop, Outasight and a classical violin concerto from Tchaikovsky. Music for the feel good family holiday movie was chosen by music supervisor Julia Michels (Pitch Perfect, Hope Springs, The Devil Wears Prada).

For the score to the Parental Guidance O.S.T., Billy Crystal has once again teamed with his musical support person, composer Marc Shaiman who has helped with the arrangements for Crystal's opening music numbers for the Oscars in addition to composing scores for City Slickers, Mr. Saturday Night, Forget Paris & When Harry Met Sally.

If you're wondering about the song in the Parental Guidance trailer with the words, "Feel so close to you right now, it's a force field...", it's from Calvin Harris "Feel So Close" released in 2011.

Seriously, how many shots to the groin jokes does Billy Crystal have to take to make what looks to be a kind of weak Meet the Grandparents movie? That's what was highlighted in the movie's trailer and the publicity photos released by the studio. So it's surprising that according to BoxOfficeMojo, Parental Guidance managed to gross just under $120 million worldwide.

Parental Guidance starring Bette Midler The Rose, Billy Crystal Young Frankenstein and Marisa Tomei Lincoln Lawyer hopes to nab a slice of the holiday movie season, trying to cash in on nostalgia for Crystal & Bette Midler with a movie that the whole family can enjoy risking a release date of December 25, 2012. DVD Release: March 26, 2013
