A collection of Pixar's little secrets
Pixar loves to hide little secret references to movies and characters from the animation studio's past and future in their movies, these are known as easter eggs and i have collated them here for you.
Please give the page a thumbs up if you like it.
Announcement - Apologies for not updating for a while but there haven't been a whole lot of new secrets to share. Brave featured a surprisingly small (unless i've missed them all) number but i've updated those that did appear, here's hoping monsters Inc. 2 gives us a myriad more to look out for.
Pizza Planet Truck
Pizza Planet Truck - Time 31:25
Even though Pixar seemed reluctant to draw the viewer out of the movie with lots of easter eggs they stuck to tradition and included the famous Pizza Planet truck in the woodcarving scene.
Sully - Time 31:22
Monsters University is on its way! And to get us all excited for it here's another carving, this time of Sully.
ACXIII - Time:
Back in the day, when roman numerals were still fashionable, A113 was written as ACXIII and can just be seen here, adorning the inside of the doorframe.
Joe Ranft - Time:
This ones a little tricky to see but our final carving is a portrait of the late Joe Ranft, a pixar veteran who worked on many of the earlier pixar movies. If you look closely, surrounded by a patterned border, you can just make out his bearded face.
Theres a new poster out for cars 2 and along with it come a number of, not breathtaking, but interesting secrets. See the full size poster Here .

Pizza Planet Truck - Cars 'Triptych' Poster
The now famous Pizza Planet Truck has already made it into Cars 2, hanging out in front of Buckingham Palace of course. I don't know whether it will make it into the film but we shall soon see.
Calling At... - Cars 'Triptych' Poster
Everyone aboard! It would seem that Pixar has even changed the street names in London with this red bus stopping at Shiftly Road, Carford Street, Roadster Street, Petroldilly Circus, Spanner with a final destination of Trafalgear.
Alpha Romeo - Cars 'Triptych' Poster
A classic car make, Alpha Romeo has become part of the landscape of Cars 2 with its logo and grill forming a park area.
Lightning McClean - Cars 'Triptych' Poster
Lotso Lights - Cars 'Triptych' Poster
After his failure in Toy Story 3 it would seem Lotso huggin' has made it in Japan, with his very own brand of car.
Italy Architecture - Cars 'Triptych' Poster
In keeping with the original, Cars 2 seems to be heavily styled on vehicles with the buildings and cliffs rocking grills and other car based forms. Oddly the eiffel tower can also be seen, perhaps we are looking over the border to Ratatouille?
London Architecture - Cars 'Triptych' Poster
London is again vehicularly styled. Big Ben has been transformed into Big Bentley, the four faces are surrounded by huge Bentley grills and topped with the Bentley Flying B.
Japan Architecture - Cars 'Triptych' Poster
Though the majority of the Japanese scenes will most likely be in the dazzling city, we can see here a glimpse of the more serene side to japan. Notice the building of the right has car wings styled into the stonework.
Pope Mobile - Cars 'Triptych' Poster
Good Heavens, is that the Popemobile? Apparently so, we heard mater mention him in the trailer and it would seem that he will make some appearance too.
As with the previous movie it seems the pixar set dressers have been looking to car parts for inspiration. Here you can see the lamp in the background is modeled like a piston.

Day and Night (short)
Butt its only a movie
Its not often Pixar's shorts feature a secret but their new one Day and Night does! There is a part where Day is watching a drive in movie (on Nights butt of course ) and it very closely resembles a scene from the disney movie 101 Dalmatians.
Toy story 3
Things to look out for
As the line of children get ready to return to Sunnyside from recess Flick from A Bugs Life can bee seen jumping out of the way.
A patch on Bonnie's backpack is of Wally B. from the early Pixar short The Adventures of Andre and Wally B.
Your Bugging Me
During the scene at Sunnyside where Woody climbs into the ceiling, the letters on the wall spell out ATTA, the name of one of the ants in A Bug's Life.
Twice in Toy Story 3 the Pizza planet truck appears, once very clearly when lots 'O' Huggin is traveling back to his owner and again in the background after the toys escape from the bin bag.
Sid the garbage man
Early on in the film we see a garbage man cheerfully dancing to music as he gets on with his job. He is clearly wearing a skull t-shirt and i think its safe to say this is Sid from the first toy story movie. Now can anyone spot the chicken guy?
Thanks to Cucuxenxo for this secret.
As well as the license plate being A113 it also has Tiger Pride written on it. This is actually a reference to the high school mascot of director Lee Ulrich.
To the left of this picture you can see a decidedly less scary Sully toy from Monsters Inc.
Another monster has found itself into this film in the form of Boo from Monsters Inc. It may not look much like her from this angle but the girl in pink bears a great resemblance to her.
This is one you will have to trust me on but behind the two girls there is a boy with curly hair and he is wearing a t-shirt with the lightning McQueen logo on it.
W. Cutting Blvd.
If you look above Andy's door there is a street sign, it's very blurry (sorry) but it actually says W. Cutting Blvd. and is the street on which Pixar’s original headquarters were situated.
This ones an audio secret, in the trailer we briefly hear this jack in the box toy shout 'New toys!'. The voice actually belongs to Lee Unkrich, the director of Toy Story 3.
The banner you can see with the letters P.U. actually stands for Pixar University, a development program started for Pixar employees.
In this gambling scene one of the batteries being used has the brand 'Revolting' on it. This brand was actually a sponsor in Cars for car number 24 in the first race, see if you can find it.
The Art director of Toy Story 3, Erin Magill decided to display some of her own work on Andy's wall in the film so some of these pictures (I don't know which) were actually done whilst she was in high school.
Also, luis spotted that on the wall to the left there is a calendar that has hot rod from the Cars on it.
Apple again - Tv spot : 0:02
It seems the newest Toy Story movie is teeming with Apple products, Molly can be seen chilling with her apply headphones as she discards her old toys.
Thanks to Cucuxenxo for this secret.
Buy 'N' Large - Trailer 1 - 1:55
The mega corporation from Wall-e has ben missing out on some advertising recently it seems so they have decided to push their batteries in Toy Story 3 when Buzz is being reset.
Hometown map - Trailer 1 - 0:41
In this image there is actually two easter eggs, though they are very discrete. The map on the wall at the back apparently has the locations of all the production teams hometowns shown with pins. Also, the red poster to the right shows a picture of a new character in Pixars upcoming film 'Cars 2' called Finn McMissile.
95 - Trailer 2 - 2:10
The train chase sequence clearly shows the marking 95 in yellow on a red background. This hints deeply of lightning McQueen who had a very similar logo.
Nemo - Trailer 1 - 1:22
I found Nemo (hehe) stuck onto the side of Andy's toy box in the first trailer.
Luxo sketch - Trailer 2 - 2:16
In the sketches behind woody you can see a close up of the classic Pixar Luxo ball. There are a lot of drawings here though, can you see any more secrets? if so leave a comment at the bottom of the page.
Carl and Ellie leave a note - Trailer 1 - 0:55
This is a really nice secret. On the notice board in Andy's room is a postcard from Carl and Ellie from the previos movie Up.
Playarea Poster - 1:25 - Trailer 1
In the trailer when you first see all the new toys there is a poster on the wall behind. I can see Nemo and what looks like the incredibles logo but i would be surprised if the pixar guys couldn't squeeze some more in, can you spot any more?
Totoro - 0:55 -Trailer 2
Hayao Miyazaki's famous character Totoro gets a nod in the second trailer, these films are getting quite crowded.
In this scene of children playing there is a small red wooden car in the background, with the lightning bolt down the side it has to be in honor of Lightning McQueen.
Thanks to Cucuxenxo for pointing out this secret.
Lots O Huggin'
In the new Toy Story 3 trailer we meet a new character, a purple bear by the name of Lots O Huggin'. This character was actually seen in Up when se see the house go past a girls window and he is by her bed.
34 seconds into the second Toy Story 3 trailer Buzz shakes hands with a robot toy and behind them a tractor drives past. This tractor looks like one of the vehicles in Cars where Mcqueen and Mater go tractor tipping
We see Woody and the toys using a computer in the Trailer which is an Apple iMac, the logo is covered with a post-it but you can clearly see the OSX interface and safari. A reference to Apple's links to Pixar.
Already we can see A113 appearing on the license plate of the car in toy story. i don't know whether it will appear later on in the movie or if its just for the advert.
The jovial science teacher Mr Ray from Finding Nemo can be seen flapping about with other aquatic creatures in the nursery here.

The Pixar Tree
The tree we see at the start of the movie has actually been standing quite some time, we first saw it in bugs life but it also appeared in Toy Story 2 when jesse was thrown away.

On the drug bottle on the right there is some text which reads 'Luxo Drugs', this is a reference to one of Pixar's earliest creations, the Luxo Lamp.
Dumbo? - Time: 8:04
Partly Secret - Time: 8:20
This one may not be intentional but this in scene Ellie is painting a mural onto the wall and has included a stork in it, The short that is shown with 'Up' is called Partly Cloudy and is all about storks and them bringing babies into the world.
Mac Color Wheel - 1:30:31
To those of you who use a mac this badge may look familiar to you. It is the cursor macs use when they are opening applications or not responding and it is placed in the credits next to the technology team names.
If you look behind Carl here there is a plaque on the wall which reads 'Courtroom A113'. The more 'dedicated' of you will know that the code A113 is used a lot in Pixar films and i believe it has made its way into every one of their movies in some way or another.
The code actually refers to a room in which many of the Pixar and disney animators studied in at CalArts, a renowned college in California.
Knick Knack Mermaid - 10:09
When Carl goes to get the tickets to paradise falls there is a brochure showing an exotic scene which may look familiar to those of you who have seen Pixars early short 'Knick Knack'.
Pizza Planet Truck
Heres another one for you fans, in Pixars first movie Toy Story, the toys used a pizza truck to get back to Andy. From then forward the pizza truck has been spotted in the background of all of their movies, perhaps excluding A Bugs Life.
The truck has been altered slightly for Up but it is still unmistakably the classic Pizza Truck.
In the Movie Ellie gives Carl a badge made from a bottle top, it is the same brand as can be seen on the Buzz Lightyear commercial in Toy story.
Pete Docter, the director of Up modeled the character of young Ellie on his daughter of the same name. She also drew some of the drawings in Ellie's adventure book.
Luxo ball and assorted toys
In this clip from Up you can clearly see a few easter eggs in this girls bedroom. Pixar often uses toys to reference their other films and here they have done it again. Firstly the ball from Luxo jr. and the Toy Story movies appears in the bottom right corner, if you look to the left you can also see flowers adorning the wall. These flowers, particularly the pink one looks exactly like the pattern on Boo from Monsters inc. door.
You might also be interested to know that the childs drawing on the wall was done by Ellie docter and the Dog picture on the wall looks remarkably like Gamma from the movie.
Thanks to Jeffrey Martinez for pointing out this secret.

In this amazing credits sequence there are several references to previous movies, one is crush the turtle from Finding Nemo
There were over 300 graphics made for this movie and many of them hold references to the pixar employees who worked on the film. In you the above image you can see a winde bottle and if you look closely you can see the beginning of Lasseter Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine label is a reference to executive producer John Lasseter.

As Remy throws some herbs into Linguini's soup the bubbles form an outline of Disney's classic character, Mickey Mouse.
Incredible Underwear - Time: 33:16
When Linguini is trying to find somewhere to keep Remy we see a glimpse of his underwear, which seem to be patterned with the Incredibles logo.

As mack is driving Mcqueen to the final race you can see a row of birds on the power lines, these come from a Pixar short called 'For the birds'.

The infamous A113 can be seen appearing on a train and also, if you can make it out, on Mater's license plate.

Stanley, the founder of radiator springs is the same make as the car from the Pixar short Boundin'.
Pizza Truck - Time: 1:29:16
The toy story pizza truck can be seen in the crowd at the final race, this car has been subtly used in many of the Pixar movies.
Pixar Studios - Time: 1:31:09
On the flyby at the final race you can see an aerial view of the Pixar studios to the left.
All the tyres in the movie are made by Lightyear, this is a reference to a well known tyre manufacturer, Goodyear, and also, of course, to Buzz Lightyear from Toy story.
Lightning Mcqueeen's name is a tribute to Glenn Mcqueen, a Pixar animator who died in 2002 and animated characters such as woody in toy story. Finding nemo was dedicated to him and his work.
There are a number of references to cars in the scenery around the movie, the rock formations are shaped like the fronts and backs of cars and tire tracks and cars make their way into the clouds.
Is this a hidden reference? - Time: 35:53
When Mcqueen is cementing the road for the first time an odd shadow is cast behind him. Is this another easter egg or just a shadow? Leave your views in the guestbook.
