Rainy Day Songs

Updated on October 10, 2012

How About Some Music To Go With That Rain?

Whether you love or hate the rain let's face it we need it to keep those beautiful flowers blooming and the grass growing, so the next time you have a rainy day try to enjoy it with some great rainy day songs I have listed below.

This lens even has music available to make your own rain day or thunderstorm sounds to fall asleep listening to at night. I don't know about you but I love the sound of a thunderstorm rolling in, it makes me fall right to sleep.

Remember when you were little and you had a love/hate relationship with rain? If it would rain it could ruin your whole day because you could not play outside but you had all that fun jumping in the puddles after a good hard rain storm.

The Best Two Rain Day Songs

Here Comes the Rain Again By the Eurythmics

The song "Here Comes the Rain Again" by the Eurythmics is a great rainy day song which compares the rain coming down to the romantic memories in her head about someone she is apart from. She wonders if he is still thinking about her too and with the help of some wonderfully written lyrics tells a story of lost love. My favorite lyrics are "Here comes the rain again, falling on my head like a memory" and surprisingly the song is upbeat and not depressing even while dealing with a sad topic most of us have faced after we lose someone we love.

Rainy Day Woman by Waylon Jennings

Another song that uses a metaphor for rain is the song "Rainy Day Woman" by country legend Waylon Jennings. In this song Waylon compares the moody woman he lives with to the weather and tells of how he never knows what he will dealing with when awakes each day. He speaks of how she is never happy with him and even on a sun shining day she is his rainy day woman.

Three Runner Up Songs

Have You Ever Seen the Rain by Creedence Clearwater Revival

A classic rock rainy day song is "Have You Ever Seen the Rain" by Creedence Clearwater Revival and the lyrics describe the calm before the storm and rain that comes down even on a bright and sunny day. The lyrics are a comparison of life's hard times and how we all have them, so hopefully everyone can relate to them and we are not the only ones who have seen the rain coming down on a sunny day.

Purple Rain by Prince

A pop singer who seems to have an excellent ability to capture a audience and use his very powerful lyrics to ring us in is Prince and the song "Purple Rain" does just that. Once you have listened to the lyrics closely you will quickly realize just how beautiful this song really is and you will probably love it forever. The story is one of forgiveness and love and the most powerful lyrics are "I never meant to cause you any sorrow, I only want to see you laughing in the purple rain". Prince is an incredible storyteller through his music and this song certainly will not disappoint on any rainy day or night.

I Love a Rainy Night by Eddie Rabbitt

The perfect song to play at night on a rainy day is "I Love a Rainy Night" by Eddie Rabbitt because the song has an upbeat tempo and a very catchy hook that will have you singing along in a matter of minutes. This song is also great for thunderstorm weather with the lyrics "I love to hear the thunder, watch the lightning when it lights up the sky". A great song to end the day with and leave you with a big smile because when you wake tomorrow it will probably be to bright and sun shiny new day.
