She Stoops To Conquer (or The Mistakes of a Night) by Oliver Goldsmith

Updated on January 14, 2017

Photographs from a 1791 version of the script.

After watching "She Stoops to Conquer" at Nottingham Playhouse, I realised I had an old copy of the script from 1791. It was an odd curiousity I brought from ebay years ago.

I've added the illustration, note from Dr Oliver Goldsmith, Prologue (by David Garrick), Dramatis Personae for Drury Lane and Covent Garden and Epilogue (by Goldsmith).

"She Stoops to Conquer" is a comedy by Oliver Goldsmith that was first performed at Covent Garden Theatre (London) on 15 March 1773. It was popular when it was debuted and continues to be performed to this day.
