Southern Quotes and Redneck Sayings

Updated on May 13, 2015

It's fun living in the south!

To me, there's nothing funnier than listening to southern folk talk. It never fails. During every conversation, they're bound to come out with a southern quote or a redneck saying that makes me roll with laughter.

In my case, I'm blessed with a southern husband. But for those of you not so lucky, I've gathered my favorite southern quotes, redneck sayings and even a few redneck pictures and videos.

He's as confused as an orphan child on fathers day.

Pictures of Rednecks

These are hilarious pictures of things that can only be described as "redneck style". I can't decide which is funnier; the working toilet on the front porch or the redneck gingerbread house.

Tight as a frogs butt. And that's waterproof.

Tighter than the bark on a hickory tree.

Redneck 911 Call

I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want to go hunting with this guy! tryin to nail jelly to a tree.

This machine gun grandma has to be redneck!

I can't even imagine my own Grandma shooting a machine gun, much less "Shooting someone in his toodles"!

Cooler than the other side of the pillow.

Redneck Camping Guide

This is your complete guide to camping. It includes everything from how to pick out a camping spot to what you should eat. It even gives examples of camping conversations.

Tougher than a pine knot

Ultimate Redneck Waterskiing

Now this looks like fun!

Over yonder. Down yonder. Up yonder.

For months, I tried, tried, tried to figure out where Yonder was.

Redneck Rollercoaster

This redneck roller-coaster video should come with a big warning label "Don't try this at home".

As confused as a blind lesbian in a fish market.

Redneck Art

See what you can do with barbecue sauce?

As nervous as a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs.

RPG Fishing

These soldiers may be in Afghanistan, but I'm sure they're rednecks at heart!

Does a bear poop in the woods?

Redneck Lawnmower

Well, you can either do this......or you can just buy a riding lawn mower.

Southern Women Say It Best!

I hope you enjoyed my southern quotes and funny redneck sayings. I'll add more sayings as I hear them. Do you have any redneck sayings you'd like to share?

That's pretty funny stuff you have there, being a redneck myself. (Well, not really, I just live near 'em and love 'em) I have to admit, at first I was a little offended by the title, then I realized how true it all was. You should see all the rebel flags hanging from the antenna's of the ford trucks on cinder blocks in their front yards, y'all... lol

Don't know if that's redneck or if Northern people say it to but I know a lot of folks down here that do.

I just love this lens. I was born in Kentucky lived in Alabama for a while and I've heard a lot of these "straight from the horses mouth." One I've found myself using is, "I'm busier than a cat covering 'it' up!" What a fun lens this is to read. Thanks for sharing.

@puzzlerpaige: I really did look for Yonder. I thought it was some huge city because everything was there. I got so frustrated when I couldn't find it on the map! When I finally asked someone, I became the but of every joke for 6 months.

I can't believe I forgot "fixin to do something!" Thanks for reminding me.

    • puzzlerpaige profile image

You had me at "Redneck". We are from the south, but I haven't heard some of these. I can add, "He's as dumb as a box of rocks" and about a million more. "Yonder" is of course, "over there." Did you really look for it? And if you are "fixin' " to do something = you are about to do it. "Lord willin' and the creek don't rise" = it will happen if nothing else happens to prevent it. These are great!
