The Star Trek Movies

Updated on January 15, 2015

The Cult Phenomenon

But after almost 50 years of TV series, movies, novels, comic books, games and even conventions Star Trek is very much one of a kind and loved by millions. Oh and you can add action figures to that list as well among other things I'm sure.

Sure the movies and TV series are one thing but I strongly believe it is the fans that make Star Trek the phenomenon it has become. The fans or Trekkies have developed their own language, hold their own convention (attended by thousands each year) as well as numerous Star Trek marathon nights between themselves.

What is most interesting to me is how much influence the franchise has had on the world. It has been cited as the major influence of the cell phone if you can believe it as well as major civil rights stances. Nowhere else in 1966 did you see a more multicultural cast or storylines.

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan

Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan - The Director's Cut (Two-Disc Special Collector's Edition)

In Star Trek 2 The Wrath of Khan you follow Captain Kirk and the crew of the Star ship Enterprise as they travel deep into uncharted time and space.

The original Star Trek series ran a mere three years. In that time, however, it made a large enough impact to later spawn into four more distinct series (five if you count the 1973 animated version), as well as eleven full feature films. There will be more movies made in the years to come I'm sure.

Space: The final frontier, the Starship Enterprise, and the host of characters and actors from Star Trek have made their mark in movie history. The franchise will surely live on forever.

These are the voyages of the Starship, Enterprise

It's a five year mission

To explore strange new worlds

To seek out new life and new civilizations

To boldly go where no man has gone before

These famous opening words were first spoken in 1966.

Why are Trekkies so loyal to Star Trek?

You would have to have a special place in your heart for the Star Trek: The Next Generation actors for displaying their deep dedication to the Star Trek series.

In between making movies the Star Trek actors also took the time to appear in six Star Trek television series as they were being filmed, now that is loyalty to a series, and Trekkies show their appreciation by being just as loyal to Star Trek.

ooopsy...darn typos...Spock chose the needs of the many over the needs of the few....was thinking of food I guess....just don't want to offend any Trekkies out there!

I'm a bit of a Star Trek fan but not a Trekkie and am surprised at how many movies there are that I haven't seen. I think of what I have seen I would choose The Wrath of Khan but don't remember much of it other than those bugs crawling into Zulu's ear, I think it was him or maybe Chekov. The Search For Spock was a little strange...but we just couldn't say goodbye forever even after seeing him of in that capsule in space after he chose the needs of the many over the needs of the food and said something like "What do you think of my answer to the Kobayashi Maru test Jim?" Funny the things you sort of remember. Oh, checked your videos and all are working perfectly. Star Trek brought us some great music along the way. mostly I remmeber the original episodes but the only show title I can remember is "The Trouble With Tribbles", they sure were cute!

@JoleneBelmain: Actually now that you mention it, I have not seen Star Trek on our channels lately, I wonder if it is just on the upper cable television channels now? Thank you for mentioning that.

@Board-Game-Brooke: I have not seen the new Star Trek...did they use the original characters?

@FanfrelucheHubs: Lol...I think that trekkies like even the worst of the shows because they are loyal to the actors who play these roles in Star Trek. The show certainly has a very loyal following of fans.

@anonymous: I think that the Star Trek movies are timeless. The characters became so real to us that the starship enterprise and it's adventures will always be very real to us too.

@BPCFE: My brother is a Star Trek fan and when his favorite show is on I know that I can find him snuggled up on the couch enjoying the show. It does not seem to matter how many times he has seen the star trek episode he still enjoys them. Thank you for stopping by.

I am a fan of Star Trek Deep Space Nine and Next Generation. Don't care much for voyager..and found the original a bit cheesy (Trekkies are going to kill me).

I was a strong Trek fan for years. I gradually lost interest, but I saw the recent reboot movie and really enjoyed it. I thought they did a great job of modernizing it while staying true to the characters.
