That Winter the Wind blows - Korean Drama 2013

Updated on September 24, 2014

Pain, heartbreak -v- trust, love

There are many factors which made me really love SBS drama That Winter, the Wind Blows: the gorgeous eye-candy talented casts (Jo In Sung, Song Hye Kyo, Kim Bum & Jung Eun Ji) and a gorgeous teaser & cinematography (which can be expected from PD Kim Kyu Tae who brought a subtle stunning cable drama Padam Padam). Once again, he's collaborating with scriptwriter Noh Hee Kyung.

As this is Jo In Sung's drama comeback after 7 years and Song Hye Kyo's first drama after 4 years; the anticipation is building up. I can already feel the chemistry just by watching the teaser & the highlight; so can't wait to spend 8 weeks with this gorgeous stunning couple.

That Winter the Wind Blows is the adaptation of 2002 Japanese drama Ai Nante Irane Yo, Natsu. Korean movie "Love Me Not" featuring Moon Geun Young and Kim Ju Hyuk also remade this drama; however, the ending for the drama & movie were quite different. That's why I'm very curious about this drama's ending, but I'm already preparing my heart to be torn apart. Have to admit that I have a slight hope that they will have a happy ending

This drama's focal point will be similar with the Japanese drama & the movie. It will center around a rich playboy & gambler Oh Soo (Jo In Sung) who lost his parents when he's young, vowed that he'd never fall in love after his first love (Hee Ju) passed away. He pretends to be the heroine Oh Young's (Song Hye Kyo) brother (long-lost brother) when he knew that she's a rich woman and he needed money to pay for his debts.

After her parents' divorce and a harsh separation from her brother, Oh Young lost the real meaning of life, she closed herself up. She didn't realize that her brother always writes letters to her, she feels like she's been abandoned. To make things worse, she's diagnosed with a rare eye illness which makes her vision blur and she can't accept the fact that she may be blind. She hides her illness from the outsiders, but it makes her life really difficult as she's an heir to a huge organization and has to take care this company & others around her. Through all her ordeals , she also lost the meaning of love. Her real long-lost brother unfortunately passed away due to a car accident (he's hit by a car).

As Oh Soo and Oh Jung grow closer, they start to develop romantic feeling with each other. Oh Jung will fight her feeling as she believes Oh Soo is her brother (very complicated isn't it?). And I think Oh Soo will take his time to tell her about his lies! Because it will ruin their relationship and break Oh Jung's fragile heart.

The other two characters in this drama will be played by two young actor/actress Kim Bum and Jung Eun Ji. Park Jin Sung (Kim Bum) is Oh Soo's best friend since college and Moon Hee Sun (Jung Eun Ji) is Hee Ju's younger sister.

That Winter the Wind Blows premiered on February 13, 2013, after The Great Seer ended it's run.
