The 10 Best Songs of the Alan Parsons Project

Updated on April 3, 2013

The Best Songs By The Alan Parsons Project

Ok, I admit it. I lied in the lens title, but not intentionally. You see I thought I would list my top 10 favorite songs by the Alan Parsons Project, but there are too many. So this list is actually my top 17 favorite songs (it could have easily been longer). I have a module at the end of the list where you can vote on which songs should be in the top 10. As people vote I will modify the list. Eventually I will limit the list to 10 songs. I hope you enjoy my selections.

A Word On The Alan Parsons Project

The Alan Parsons Project is one of my favorite bands. I discovered the group because of a mention in the Austin Powers movies where the Alan Parsons is referenced. The Alan Parsons Project is not actually a band but a collaboration of various musicians. There were only two permanent members, Alan Parsons and Eric Woolfson. Most of the songs they recorded were written by Woolfson. Parsons, who was the recording engineer for Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon", focused mainly on making sure the albums had a distinct sound. Although Parsons did occasionally wright some of the music and played various instruments on a number of tracks.

Have always loved Tales of Mystery and Imagination, but then never liked the rest of there music, how someone could start off with such a killer album then fade into mediocrity has always baffled me

So many people have never heard of APP; even fewer know about. Parson's work with the Beatles and Pink Floyd. Tragic.

@Shorebirdie: I'm glad you like APP. I haven't found many people who do. Break down is great I really wanted to put it on here. Be sure to listen to "Sirus/Eye In The Sky" as well. It's a lot like "Breakdown"

@Shorebirdie: OK, I just added them to my Pandora list. The first song they played was "Breakdown". That is an awesome song! Been so long since I've heard that one.
