The 10 Best Sitcoms Ever
The 10 Best Sitcoms Ever
I watch a lot of TV Shows and sitcoms in particular are my favourite ! Since I am easily bored I found their short duration ideal for my taste.
Sitcoms have always been a big part of my daily activities since I spend at least 1 hour every day watching my favourites. Over the years I have watched almost everything that has aired in the past 20 years. This lens is a highlight of my top 10 preferences mainly focusing on the period from 1994 until today. I would love to hear your comments and suggestions !
The Complete Set - 11 Season's of Frasier
One of the best buys I ever made. Right now I am watching the whole series for the third time - I am on Season 11 episode 7th. I still find every minute enjoyable as the first time I have watched this.
1. Frasier (1993-2004)
The Best of the Best !
By far the best sitcom of all times ! (in my modest opinion at least) - Having watched the full eleven seasons over and over again I do not have a single doubt in my mind that this series is the best thing that was ever broadcast on TV. Great acting, smart dialogues and plenty of laugh - Frasier has it all !. Dr. Frasier Crane ,his family and friends hold a very special place in my heart. Watching Frasier episodes when overcoming difficult situations in my life was the best medicine for me. I find the whole setting of the show very relaxing and even spirit-lifting. If you haven't watch it yet, or you have just seen some random episodes, I highly recommend you give the show a chance as I am sure you will not regret it ! Sit back, grub a glass of cherry and enjoy the magic !
Second place - but only because I can only have one on number one !
It has been called by many as the "mother of all sitcoms".Seinfeld is a truly remarkable show with many memorable moments and episodes that are now considered to be in the pantheon of television history. My favorite character is Jerry's best friend, the short, bald, fat, dishonest, envious little man named George Costanza (what a character !), portrayed by actor Jason Alexander. If I had to choose just a single phrase to describe the series that would be: "A masterpiece in it's simplicity". When I first started watching Seinfeld episodes I was not impressed at all, as I found myself thinking "what's all the fuss about?" - but a few episodes later the show won me over and as I got better acquainted with the characters I was absolutely amazed. To end my little Seinfeld review, I must confess that this could have been on number 1 of my list along with Frasier but I promised myself that I will not allow any ties here !
Seinfeld: all the episodes here !
Any serious sitcom fan needs to have this on their collection !
3.The Office (2005-now)
Bears. Beets. Battlestar Galactica.
Another favorite of mine - The Office - is the best comedy show I've watched since Frasier's final season in 2004. Filmed with a single-camera setup it gives the feeling of an actual documentary. What I think really makes this one stand out is -apart from the great cast of actors and excellent writing- the astonishingly comical characters, like those of Dwight Schrute (Rain Wilson) and Kevin Malone (Brian Baumgarten) just to name a few. The show is now on the 8th season.
Season 7 was one of the best on the show so far. The Blue-Ray edition is amazing !
4.Arrested Development (2003-2006)
We want more !
Brilliant ! That's the first thing that comes to my mind when trying to find a few words to describe Arrested Development. In case you are not familiar with the show, the story revolves around the adventures of the Bluth family after the imprisonment of the head of the family, and the efforts of his son, Michael Bluth ( Jason Baterman ) to save the family business and keep his unbalanced relatives under control.
Get ready for some serious laughs ! This is one of the funniest things you will ever watch !
Scrubs is following the adventures of medical intern J.D (John Dorian) and his colleagues at a fictional hospital named "Sacred Heart". Being a medical show, drama is often combined with comedy during several episodes throughout the series and some emotional scenes occur, especially when dealing with death. The show is filled with hilarious daydreaming scenes and fast paced smart dialogues.
Number six on my list is this fresh tv-gem named "Modern Family . The show evolves around the stories of three inter-related families: a gay couple and their adopted daughter, a straight couple and their three children and an interracial couple consisting of the patriarch of the family, his younger hot wife and her son. This follows the concept of other modern tv-shows ( The Office ) and is filmed like a documentary. One thing I really enjoy about Modern Family is the quality of the cast.I was really astonished by the performances of some of the younger actors who portray the children of the families.
Start from Season One !
One of my saddest moments was when I realised I was running out of episodes !
7.King of Queens (1998-2007)
Big burgers, big TV and a big man !
King of Queens is a very pleasant sitcom and I believe deserves to be in this toplist. Doug - an immature delivery man - , lives with his wife Carrie and her father Arthur in Queens (hence the series title).Doug is a typical couch-potato . He loves junk food, TV and sports. Carrie works as a secretary in a law firm trying to improve her career and - many times- Doug as well. While not the star of the show, but my personal favourite, actor Jerry Stiller, who plays Arthur Spooner, (Carrie's father) is one of the most hilarious TV-characters I have ever encounter !
King of Queens: Complete !
Doug loves eating snacks while watching shows and sports on his big-screen TV. You shouldn't do that when watching King of Queens episodes thought, since chewing food and laughing is really, really dangerous !
8.30 Rock (2006-Now)
30 Rockefeller Plaza
This single-camera show was created by writer Tina Fey and it can be seen as a way to express her real-lire experiences as a writer for Saturday Night Live . 30 Rock is truly, a brilliant sitcom and deserves every achievement that has accomplished so far !
The First 3 Complete Seasons
30 Rock...Rocks !
9.Parks & Recreation (2009-Now)
@ Pawnee, Indiana
Yet another brilliant single-camera documentary style sitcom ! Althought it started as a spinoff to The Office , it soon evolved it's own unique style and became a success ! For those of you unfamiliar with the plot , here's the basic idea: the show is set in a fictional Indiana town, following the activities of the officials at the local Parks & Recreation department If you liked The Office then this is a show for you.
The 3rd Season
There is really not much to be said about Friends !
For many years this was my favorite TV-Show but then again that was before I discovered everything else that is on this list :)
However there couldn't be a top-list of sitcoms without Friends listed, even as number 10 !
