The Best of The Jackson 5: The Millennium Collection
The Early 1970s Brought The Jackson Five Into My Life
I grew up listening to The Jackson 5 and how I loved their music. My very first Jackson 5 record was ABC and I remember having the 45 RPM which I would play on my little box record player many times a day. I immediately loved this fun, upbeat and all-around great pop group. The recordings that followed were nonetheless fabulous too. The Love You Save and I'll Be There ended up being my all-time best Jackson 5 songs. The music, lyrics and arrangements combined with the talent of these five young men resulted in some of the best pop music ever made.
The Jackson 5 were not an overnight success.
With all of this talent in one family you would think that they would be instant pop stars, but success takes awhile. At a young age, the Jackson boys would play guitar to songs they heard on the radio. Their parents knew they had talent and started promoting them locally. The boys had much success touring their home state, but then one night they were able to score a show in New York and won the amateur night contest. Their road to stardom had begun and soon after they were signed to a recording contract. Their career as The Jackson 5 took off and by 1973 I had a lot of their hit records!
Still The Best
I continue to enjoy all of these great songs now as an adult. To me they sound just as good as they did way back then. If you get a chance, take a listen to one of the best pop groups in the history of music. They set the bar very high for what was to come in music.
Jackson 5 Guest Appearances
I wish that I could have seen The Jackson 5 in concert, but I am so thankful for the technology that brings these clips to my computer.
