The Conjuring On DVD. One Scary Movie

Updated on August 19, 2017

I added the conjuring on dvd to my vast movie collection simply because it's one of the scariest horror films I've seen in a very long time. Popular horror movies within the last 15-20 years in my opinion have mostly been about blood and gore, and people dying. I forgot to add the tons of swearing. However, the Conjuring is different. There is no blood, no swearing, nobody getting chopped up into little pieces with crazy special effects. I'm amazed that the film is rated R actually. I honestly think it should be PG-13 because of this. It's just a simple film that's a horror simply because it scares you. When I say it scares you, I really mean it scares you. It's just that scary. This movie takes horror films back to the way they were in the late 1970's and early eighties before Texas chainsaw massacre and all the other horrors with blood and gore but no scariness..

So what makes the Conjuring on DVD so scary?

I will try my very best to discuss this without revealing much about the movie. Just in case you haven't seen it yet. The movie has a simple plot. A family move into a house not knowing it's haunted. Then they simply realize that it is through a series of weird occurrences like pets dying, sleep walking and hearing clapping and being attacked by ghosts. Of course they had to add people being thrown across the room by unseen forces. The movies creates fear by literally making the ghosts come from nowhere. There are scenes in the movie where doors open and close by themselves. Of course someone has to go through those doors and check to see what's going on. Then something happens out of nowhere that's scary. Of course no scary movie with ghost isn't complete without possessions and exorcisms. If you love scary movies, I think the conjuring on dvd is a great addition to my collection.

Another trailer for the movie.
