You know the really sad feeling you get when something is over, you still wish you had more and you know it won’t happen again? Well that’s how the end of ‘The Cosby Show’ felt to me.Good, clean, sensible Black comedy forever gone.

The Cosby Show portrayed really good family values and real family life and situations in the form of a situational comedy (Sitcom). The family issues dealt with in each episode were real, diverse and had varying levels of complexity, just as in real life; things anybody whose been a part of a family, no matter their race, could relate to.

But the lovable Dr. Heathcliff Huxatable, lovingly called 'Cliff' by his wife, Clair Huxtable in the show, always found a way of making you, his wife, his children, his parents, his children's friends laugh.

He wasn’t all comedy, though, as he helped his children deal with challenging situations at school; whether it was falling school grades, friends, relationships, racial issues, a young love, going away to college or getting married, Dr. & Mrs. Huxtable (so expertly portrayed by Bill Cosby and Phylicia Rashad from 1984-1992; 8 great years) always showed great emotional intelligence in dealing with the issues.

Dr. Huxtable was everything you wanted in a black man and more; educated, a loving husband, dedicated doctor, caring father, a good provider for his family. Mrs. Huxtable was every bit the poised, cool headed, strong, loving, ‘no nonsense’ woman you wanted to be.

All five (5) of the Huxtable children - Sondra (played by Sabrina Le Beauf), Denise (played by Lisa Bonet), Theo (played by Malcolm-Jamal Warner) Vanessa (played by Tempestt Bledsoe) and Rudy (played by Keshia Knight Pulliam) - had real diverse characters and experienced sibling rivalry as can be pretty much found in any family.

There’s a lot more that I can say but just go watch it!!! You’re bound to LOVE it.

To this day, I still watch reruns. I want that model Black family back!!!

A 'belly full' of laughter. You'll surely keep the doctor at bay.
