The Little Mermaid-Movie Review
One of my favorites of all Disney movies !
A feel good movie with great music and visual effects so wonderfully presented using the art and magic with animated cartoon imagery and talents only Disney can provide in the entertainment movie industry.
I find this movie to be about a fun-loving and adventurous mermaid named "Ariel" who finds her world (the sea) the place in which she lives in quite boring which happens to be ruled by her father named "Triton" who constantly warns her of the impending dangers associated with the "barbaric, fish eating" outside world above. The boundaries are clear and understood.
After finding out that she has misbehaved, he entitles Sebastian (the reggae-singing Caribbean crab) to watch over her so as to keep her out of trouble, away from the outside world of humans. Still attracted to the world so different from hers, she soon finds herself the opportunity to make her dreams come true with the help of a sea witch named "Ursula" who has an offer but with ulterior motives in the making towards her own evil advantages.
Have you ever longed for something what seems to be better on the other side or different? Have you had to face the boundaries that comes with being accepted? Win or lose...does it seem like there is a sacrifice that has to be made to attain that special something that seems of great value to you?
This movie to me is about the adventures of "Ariel" the mermaid who takes us on that journey to attain that special happiness in her life as she felt she desperately needed. I really thought this was a great movie indeed because it is entertaining for children and adults alike. With interpersonal and family relationships involved along with her desire to make her dreams come true and the issue of acceptance, one might appreciate the message and bravery behind her character as "The Little Mermaid". Highly Recommended for all ages.
Winner of two Academy Awards !

The re-release of "The Little Mermaid" (a 2-Disc Special Platinum Edition)
I remember back in the 1990's when I found out that this movie became out of print. I was bummed out because I really wanted it so badly to get my very own copy. Around 10 years or so later, they re-released this movie on DVD ( a 2-Disc Special Platinum Edition )
I was so happy to get my copy then !
Disc 2 consists of off course the usual never before seen deleted scenes, the making of this movie, a music video, and much more. But my favorite is about the ride that was almost built. I really wished they had done and completed the theme park ride based on this movie. They visually take you on a step by step journey much like that of any other Disney movie based ride. Explaining as they go behind the scenes as to why they did this and that and the whole putting together of everything on it that was supposed to be. It really could have been a great ride for Disneyland for sure !
