The Lion Of Judah Movie

Updated on September 23, 2012

The Lion Of Judah

The Lion Of Judah is a new animated movie that was released in the Spring of 2011 after a delay of almost three years.

This film is a heart-warming account of the Easter story as seen through the eyes of a bold lamb (Judah), a lovable pig (Horace), a faint-hearted horse (Monty), a pedantic rat (Slink), a rambling rooster (Drake), a motherly cow (Esmay) and a downtrodden donkey (Jack).

These characters are stable friends who are trying to avoid the sacrificial alter during the week preceding the crucifixion of Christ. With epic backgrounds and and a great attention to detail, this is a magnificent period piece.

With a blend of drama and humor, the plot follows the animal friends from their stable in Bethlehem to the great temple in Jerusalem, and from there to the hillside of Calvary as these unlikely heroes try to save their friend.

The journey takes the viewer seamlessly through the real biblical accounts of Palm Sunday; Jesus overturning the tables in the temple, Peter's thrice denial and with a tense and heart-wrenching climax, depicts the crucifixion and resurrection with gentleness and breathtaking beauty.

For Judah, the lamb with the heart of a lion, this is a story of courage and faith. For Jack, the disappointed donkey, it's a pivotal voyage of hope. For Horace, the dirty pig and Drake the ignorant rooster, this is an opportunity to do something inappropriate and get into trouble.

Limited information is available about this movie at the current time, the lens will be updated as new information becomes available

I guess I'm still a kid at heart, as animated movies are my favorites, especially with critters involved. The Lion of Judah sounds delightful!

@CruiseReady: I know, it's on limited release in the USA. I created this lens over 2 years ago, then the movie got delayed, and delayed further. At one point the production company in Sunrise, Florida wanted me to maintain the movie data on IMDB and to write press releases for them, but nothing came of it. I just never had time to complete the lens unfortunately. Maybe there is yet time, if it becomes a cult movie.

I am excited for this movie! My little bro and sis got to see a rough cut of the movie and thought it was great. This movie is gr8 for teaching kids the message of "the cross" and seems like as someone else stated, "passion of the christ for kids".

This movie seems to cute! I really cant wait to go and see it with my mom. She thinks it would be a good learning tool for me to understand the bible and stuff. She wouldn't let me watch passions of christ but she thinks it will be the basic concept.... love to learn :)

Although this is still a religious-themed movie, I'm a little upset that a movie with such a meaningful name "The LIon of Judah" isn't more serious. I expected a modern-day movie with real people with strong connections to spirituality and christianity/judaism. They should've picked a different name for this movie, the title is too much for what it is.

Thanks for that information. This lens was created with the information that was available some months ago, which was precious little. I have it on my list to update once Christmas is over, and hope that it will be a big hit.
