The Amazing Race - TAR 22

Updated on October 15, 2014

The Amazing Race 22

Amazing Race 22 started in Los Angeles, were in Bora Bora for legs 1 & 2, Christchurch New Zealand in leg 3, and in Bali, Indonesia for Leg 4. Each week I recap the events from the episode including the team that won the leg, the team that was eliminated and every Roadbluck, UTurn, and Detour.

The Amazing Race is a reality TV show on CBS hosted by Phil Keoghan who provides the narrative for the beginning of each leg of the race, Detours, and Roadblocks. Phil is at the finish line of each leg, called a Pit Stop, where he lets each team know what place they are in and let's the last place team for that leg of the race that they have been eliminated.

What happened during TAR 22?

May 5, 2013 - Final Leg - Teams race in Washington D.C.

May 5, 2013 - Leg 11 - Teams travel to Dublin, Ireland

April 28, 2013 - Leg 10 - Teams travel to Glasgow, Scotland

April 21, 2013 - Leg 9 - Teams continue racing in Berlin, Germany

April 14, 2013 - Leg 8 - Teams travel to Switzerland. Before the 1st roadblock, teams have taken 3 different trains to the top of the Swiss alps and deliver a St Bernard before getting their next clue. The 1st roadblock teams must traverse the north face of the Igor to rescue a travelocity Gnome. Teams must move 200 lbs of cheese by a traditional swiss sled down a steep hill. Teams now head to the Pit Stop. Bates and Anthony were the first team to arrive in Leg 8 and win a trip for 2 to Bora Bora. Joey and Meghan were the last team to arrive, however, Chuck and Wynona incurred a 30 minute penalty allowing Joey and Meghan to be team #5. Chuck and Wynona were eliminated from the race.

April 7, 2013 - The Amazing Race did not air on this day.

March 31, 2013 - Leg 7 - This leg has a fast forward, which Bates and Anthony successfully achieve. Teams that don't do a fast forward in this roadblock must take two goats and paddle a boat up stream. Two teams get caught speeding and must pay the ticket before continuing with the race. One team backs into a poll at the police station and damage the vehicle. Both are the first time I've seen these on the Amazing Race. At Royal Tree Lodge, teams must do a detour, in "Brains" teams must go on a horseback safari and place blocks in the right order. In "Braun", teams must take firewood by donkey 1/2 mile to a camp. Bates and Anthony won leg 7 and win $7,500 each. Pam and Winnie were the last team to arrive and were eliminated.

March 24, 2013 - Leg 6 - I need to update Leg 6 and their adventures in Botswana. Bates and Anthony won leg 6 in this non elimination leg. Max and Katie finished last and must do a Speed Bump in the next leg.

March 17, 2013 - Leg 5 - Sorry I still need update Leg 5.

March 10, 2013 - Leg 4 is a continuation of Leg 3 as teams continue racing in Bali, Indonesia. In the previews, this was dubbed the longest leg ever in the Amazing Race. Chuck and Wynona were the last team to arrive in Leg 3, but are still racing. The first detour requires teams to gather sand from the bottom of a river or make a fruit offering in the Ubud Monkey Forest. In the roadblock, teams must pick out a surfboard. Dave and Connor win their 2nd leg and both receive $5,000. Jessica and John were the last team to check in and were eliminated from the race. In typical TAR fashion, the previews mislead, and the longest leg, was just a team being grouchy and tired.

March 3, 2013 - In Leg 3, teams travel to Christchurch, New Zealand, Phil Keoghan's home town. Once in Christchurch, teams drive to Kai River Gorge to take a Jet Boat to their next clue. The Detour chooses between two New Zealand past times in Rev it Up or Reel it In. Driving cars or catching fish, it seems driving cars would be easier than trying to catch fish. Teams now drive themselves to Mount Hutt Station for their next clue. In the Roadblock, teams must race through a Shemozzle and collect a dozen eggs without breaking. Teams drive to the pit stop at Terrace Downs. Dave and Connor, ruptured achilles and all, are the 1st team to arrive and win a trip for two to Bangkok. Phil surprised the first team with a race continuation. We can only surmise that the last team was not eliminated, as happened when the race did this in TAR 20.

February 24, 2013 - In Leg 2, teams continue to race across Bora Bora. Teams must either dive for oysters and find two red pearls, or setup an underwater dining area. Teams must ride a water ski to Motu Tapu, the most photographed island is the south pacific. During the road block, teams must kick a coconut on stilts across the beach 35 yards. Bates and Anthony win Leg 2 of TAR 22 and received a trip to London, England. Idries and Jamil were the last team to arrive and were eliminated from the race.

February 17, 2013 - Teams departed from the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles, California. The teams fly to Bora Bora. One member of each team will tandem skydive from a helicopter. Teams now travel to Edem Beach by water taxi. Teams must find a clue under one of 400 sand castles. If they wreck one and don't find a clue, they must rebuild the sand castle. Teams must attach a float to a canoe and then paddle to the pit stop. Jessica and John win Leg 1 of TAR 22 and receive an express pass to use later in the race. They also received a second express pass to give to another team. Three teams stopped building sand castles. Matt and Daniel were the last team to arrive and were eliminated from the Amazing Race.

TAR 21 Eliminations

12/9/2012 - Final Leg - The final three teams fly to New York City. They must now race to Coney Island to find their next clue, which wasn't a regular clue, but words on a sign. Teams must perform a Houdini classic by escaping from a straight jacket hanging upside down. Teams must deliver ten pizzas to 3 addresses around New York. Teams must figure out that they need to go to the United Nations. For the final roadblock, teams must match the Hello and Goodbye words to each flag's country. Josh and Brent won the last leg of the race and win TAR 21.

12/9/2012 - Leg 11 - Four teams remain with the twinnys needing to do a speed bump in the two-hour finale. Teams travel to the Loire Valley in France from Barcelona, Spain. Teams start by loading eight crates into their car and drive to Chateau de Villandry. Now they must find Leonard Da Vinci's final resting place in Chateau D'Amboise. The Twinnys now must do a speedbump in the Villandy castle which will let the other three teams get ahead of them. In the detour at Chateau D'Amboise, they must either make a meal for hunting dogs or plow a field. Teams now go now and pick three different types of mushrooms. Teams must now go to the pit stop, Chateau de Chenonceau. James and Jaymes win Leg 11 and each received a Ford Escape. Natalie and Nadiya were the last to arrive and were eliminated from the race.

12/2/2012 - Leg 10 Teams fly to Barcelona, Spain. Their first task is take a ferry to the island of Palma de Mallorca. The ferry doesn't leave for a long time, so once again all the teams are put on a level playing field. At the first road block, teams must successfully return 20 balls before the basket runs out. Teams drive to the Coves de Campanet where they will find their next clue. In the Detour, teams must either fix a windmill, or become a bull and go around a few matadors. Trey and Lexi were the first to check in at the Pit Stop at Cassa de Palma and won a trip to the Rivera Maya. Natalie and Nadya were the last to check in this non elimination leg.

11/25/2012 - Leg 9 With five teams left, the racers are getting intense and are coming close to the last leg where three teams will race, but only one will win a million dollars. Teams receive a flag and must determine that they are going to Amsterdam, Netherlands. This leg has a Fast Forward, and the twins decided to do the Fast Forward. The twins have to eat 5 mackeral each in 7 minutes and completed the task on their 1st attempt. The detour chooses back in time where the teams must position actors exactly as they are in Rembrandts painting The Night Watch. In Organs to Grind, teams play an organ and collect 30 euros in donations. In this roadblock, teams must vault over a canal and grab a pair of wooden shoes and then head to the Pit Stop. Natalie and Nadiya win Leg 8 and received $5,000 each. Abbie and Ryan were the last team to arrive and were eliminated from TAR 21.

11/18/2012 - Leg 7 continued and Leg 8 begins - Teams continue in Moscow. James and Abba could night find their passport, but this non-elimination leg means they are still in the race but must product their passport at the next pitstop. Teams are staying in Moscow and heading to the Agriculture Academy. The academy doesn't open until 8am. The roadblock makes team to calculate the times in 3 different cities as Russia has 8 different time zones. The Detour , teams must perform a Russian solider dance or identify Russian leaders. James and Jaymes win leg 8 and won a trip to Costa Rica. James and Abba couldn't find their passports and were last to check in. and were eliminated from the race.

11/11/2012 - Leg 7 - Six teams remain at the start of leg 7. Teams fly to Moscow, Russia via three different routes, Amsterdam, Frankfurt, and Athens. The two teams that chose Frankfurt, missed their connecting flight and end up hours behind the other four teams. In this Detour, they most synchronize or alphabatize. They either find four books in the library, or go sychronize swimming. Both proved to be very difficutl and time consuming. Teams must now find the Trees of Love where they must unlock 10 locks to find a ribbon with their next clue. The pit stop for this leg of the race is the Bolshoi Theater. James and Abba's cab took off with their stuff and they need to produce their passports in order to check in. Trey and Lexi won this leg of the race and won a trip to Maui, Hawaii. At the end of this episode, we don't know who finished last in this leg. ??? and ??? were the last team to arrive.

11/4/2012 - Leg 6 - At the beginning of Leg 6, teams fly to Istanbul, Turkey. James and Abba lost their money for this leg of the race, and had to beg to get enough money before leaving Dakar. As usual, the plane flight puts all the teams together again before they get to Istanbul. Istanbul is located in Europe and Asia. Teams are making their way from the Europe side to the Asia side by Ferryboat. Int he Detour, their choice is sim it or scrub it. They most transfer their simits to three different addresses. In Scrub it, teams will be pampered with a Turkish delight to become squeeky clean. Josh and Brents speed bump must find an Ice Cream stop and eat an ice cream cone before continuing with the race. In a road block, teams must serve up 40 glasses of Turkish sherbert. Trey and Lexi were the winners of this leg of the race and received a trip to Australia. Rob and Kelly, monster trucks, were the last to arrive and were eliminated from TAR 21.

10/28/2012 - Leg 5 - During Leg 5, the first Roadblock must weigh out wood using stones as a counterbalance. Immediately after the Road Block the team are given a Detour. Teams either deliver bamboo to a construction site or create an eco friendly jute bag. The next clue is a picture on the bag or the same picture on a piece of bamboo is Lok Shilpa Jadughar, the pitstop for this leg of the race. James and Jaymes learn a valuable lesson to double check instead of going fast. James and Abba were the first team to arrive at the Pit Stop for the second leg in a row and won a trip to Malaysia's Rain Forest . Josh and Brent were the last team to arrive in this non-elimination leg.

10/21/2012 - Leg 4 - Teams start Leg 4 by flying to Dhaka, Bangladesh. The first roadblock has the teams helping to repair buses that are used in Dhaka. Everyone is skipping the Fast Forward that was included in the roadblock, except for James and Abba who decided to collect dead rats. Teams must down do a Detour, Pound the Medal. In pound the medal, they must make a spike. In Pound the Cotton. They must use a bamboo rod to beat the cotton, stuff the mattress, and then sew the mattress together. James and Abba were the first team to arrive at the Pit Stop and won a trip to Antigua. Gary and Will were the last team to arrive and were eliminated from the race.

.

10/14/2012 - Leg 3 - Teams start by serving 20 dishses at one time in a restaurant to get the clue that tells them to travel by train to Bangil, Indonesia. In the Detour, teams must choose between Egghead and Lionshead. In Egghead teams have a couple of eggs cooked on their head. In Lions head, the teams will dress in a lions head costume and perform a ritual parade. A doulble U-Turn is persented and the top six teams decided not to U-Turn anyone. The Gary / Will team were U-Turned and had to do both legs of the detour. Abby and Ryan were the first team to arrive and win a trip to Fiji. Caitlin and Brittany were the last team to arrive and were eliminated from the race.

Teams race bulls on a motorcycle, win or lose, they receive a clue. The first roadblock must peddle an amusement ride and make animal balloons. The first detour of the race requires teams to either deliver ice or fish by the barrel teams must sort fish and setup a fish stall. The winners of this leg, Natalie and Nadaya, received the Express Pass. Three teams are lost and can't find the next clue to get them to the roadblock. In the end, Amy and Daniel were the last team to arrive and eliminated from the race.

The memorization task at the Temple of Confucius was pathetic as the teams couldn't slow down enough to remember a simple proverb.

"In all things success depends on previous preparation, and without such previous preparation there is sure to be failure."

It was sad to see Margie & Luke go last week. Honestly, I love Christina, but her father Ronald drives me absolutely crazy with his selfish and rude comments. Wouldn't mind seeing him get the boot soon.
