"Think Like a Man" Movie Track 7 Song Fan Page Request to Music Producers Pop Wansel & Eric Mobley
An Open Love Letter: Dear Andrew and Eric, Please Release "Track #7"
Fans want to know more about the oh-so-romantic track number seven that Zeke plays for Maya in the car. It features Zeke singing, "Last night I had a dream, about a dream, about you..." Many would agree that it's heart of the movie lies in this very simple little ditty. It must be one of the most-requested songs that has never actually been officially recorded.
According to the film's credits, the song that's being unofficially dubbed "Track #7" is listed as "What Did I Miss," written by music producers Pop Wansel and Eric Mobley.
The last official tweet from Pop Wansel on whether "Track #7" will be officially released was on May 1, 2012. Wansel cheekily said he'd check with Sony. He also tweeted that the track was written and produced by Ronny FLIP Colson and YungGoldie E Mobley.
"Track #7" from Think Like a Man was written and produced by myself, @MobleyMuzek, and @Flippa123. No plans of an official release. Sorry.

You know what? Fine!!! You guys want "track #7"???? You're getting it!!! *calls Sony*
May 1, 2012— @PopWansel
I've tweeted Wansel to see if he'll clear up some questions. Did he just write a verse or did he write a whole song? Is he singing or is Romany Malco (the actor who plays Zeke) really doing the singing?
It's not such a far stretch to believe Malco is the one singing. Malco's initial claim to fame was singing with Paula Abdul on "Opposites Attract," and the former Weeds star got his start in the music biz with College Boyz—best known for their classic hip-hop song "Victim of the Ghetto." Romany Malco also played the role of MC Hammer in a VH1 biopic.
However, if Wansel does decide to record "Track #7," I wonder if he will get another recording artist to record it, if he will sing it himself, or if he will bring in Romany Malco. Will Wansel and Mobley change the title of the song if/once it's finished? I like the informal title "Track #7" or simply "Track 7," which has an old school cassette tape kind of vibe to it.
If you want to see this track released on iTunes or Amazon.com, please leave a note here in this guestbook and/or tweet this post to music producers Pop Wansel and Eric Mobley to get their attention, and maybe we can get this topic to trend on Twitter and a hit produced.
It's been quite some time since the movie was released and I love it—fans are still tweeting and commenting to get the song released, but there has been no news—so far. No news ain't good news. But there's always hope. Here's an example: it took six months before the soundtrack to the horror movie Insidious was released. So you never know.
There are a few fan-made covers of the song and people have taken the time to write out the tabs. "What Did I Miss" can easily be sung accompanied by acoustic guitar or piano. It could even make you an Internet sensation if you do an awesome cover. So if you're looking to get some record label attention or even to get noticed by the very same Wansel who does production for Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, and Miguel, feel free to post a link in the guestbook of your cover.
Who do you think should record the song? Do you have someone famous in mind? If not, do you have a favorite YouTube star who you think would be perfect? Do you think you're the next star of The Voice or American Idol? Well here's your big opportunity to reach for the stars. Record a cover version, upload it to YouTube and post it here. What do you think? Leave us a note in the guestbook below.
Here's What Fans Are Saying
Besides tweets, people have left their most creative pleas to Pop in the comment section at the bottom of this page. I love it: so many earnest, heartfelt requests. There are many disappointed fans, it turns out, who bought the soundtrack only discover the song wasn't on it, darn it. A lot of pleeeeeeeeeeeeases to get it out there, for sure.
Excerpts from comments left for Pop Wansel:
- "It is the most beautiful song i have heard ever..." proclaims Kylee on Nov 3, 2012 at 1:47, and she is already working out choreography to go with it if the song ever gets produced.
- joannaindc on Nov 6, 2012 at 4:44 pm admits she is not normally a fan of R&B, but says, "I would love to hear the version in the car and the guitar version Romany Malco was starting to sing in the cafe!"
- Other fans are commenting on how the song has a "good vibe"—one fan says, "[It] gives me chills." So much positive feedback.
The Chords and Lyrics for "Track #7"
The three chords in "Track #7" are C, Am, and G. Below is the video for one of my favorite acoustic guitar covers, uploaded by Ricky Van. According to the fan video after it, the progression is:
Last night I had a dream about a dream about you.
Now every time I think, it seems to be about you.
One minute, I was over love.
A second later, I was part of us.
Where did you come from?
Why did you happen?
Why am I in love?
What did I miss?
Last night I had a dream about a dream about you.
