Tomatoes are red - Free Childrens Poem

Updated on June 11, 2014

Tomatoes can be fun

I have been writing for 14 years now, only recently 'trying' to write on obscure topics for children and daft adults alike.

For this poem the topic is Tomatoes! Purely because I like tomatoes and it seemed like a bit of a challenge.

Comments related to ideas for future topics much appreciated, all support for my writing and my poetry would be great.

I am just starting out, so there will be many more similar write ups to come!

Perhaps even another on the vast topic of tomatoes!!

Tomatoes are red

(But sometimes they're green)

Tomatoes are red,

But sometimes they're green,

They can be hard to digest,

Now that's very mean,

Eaten on pizza,

Or piled upon toast,

Breakfast, lunch and dinner,

I eat tomatoes the most,

For ketchup and sauces,

These are so very diverse,

Here's a tomato frenzy,

In which I am immersed,

Tomatoes go rotten,

Once they're overripe,

I don't suggest eating these,

They taste worse than tripe!

They say an apple a day,

Keeps the doctor away,

But for me its tomatoes,

Then I'll come out and play

Tomatoes are red

Happy Red Tomato
Happy Red Tomato

But sometimes they're green

Funky green tomato
Funky green tomato

I love to write

The sillier the better

For me, writing comes naturally. I used to write poems which were very serious, but lately I just want to have a little fun with it and that is what I am trying to do. Pick obscure topics and challenge myself to create poetry from it.

Calling all silly people and children

My work is for kids and for people who like something a bit wacky and a bit daft.

That does not mean I don't take my writing seriously. I just like to have odd topics and a light hearted nature!

Peace begins with a Smile
