Top 10 of the most popular cartoon characters ever!

Updated on July 28, 2011

Cartoon Characters that marked history!

Almost everybody watched cartoons when they were kids, some of the grown ups still do! (hey, stop pointing at me!).

Enjoy some of the most popular cartoon figures on TV below! If you have anything to add or if you think that a figure should have been in the place of another please do tell!

Image Left: Mickey dragging Pluto to the sea.

Bugs Bunny!

Who doesn't know Bugs Bunny? Everybody does! Pointy ears rabbit, eating carrots, always asking "what's up doc?"

The prototype of Bugs Bunny was created on April 30, 1938 and then the final was released on July 27, 1940.

Take a little break and shop your cartoons securely from Amazon!

Daffy Duck!

Daffy Duck is a...well... a duck cartoon character. He is a lunatic, unexpectedly crazy and cannot speak properly as when he talks he spits all over the place!

He first appeared in "Porky's Duck Hunt" cartoon in 1937(!) and he was hunted by Porky Pig (who was holding a shotgun).

Daffy Duck is remembered to scream "Woo hoo" repeatedly and jump everywhere like mad.

Donald Duck!

Here is another duck cartoon figure for you! He is kind in heart, he has three nephews (Huey, Dewey, and Louie) that behave naughty all the time!

He is also known for his short temper yet he is clumsy at times. When he gets angry, nothing can stop him!

He first appeared in "The Wise Little Hen" in 1934 where he was quite different than the photo on the left. (As the years have passed he ended up as he appears on the photo)

Popeye!

Ah...The brave sailor! He appeared in December 19, 1919 for the first time. His love is called Olive Oyl.

He eats spinach whenever he wants to get stronger and oh my, he becomes invincible!

Mickey Mouse and Pluto

Pluto is Mickey Mouse's dog. They just love each other's company!

Mickey Mouse (he is a mouse!) firstly appeared in "Steamboat Willie" (1928) and Pluto in "The Chain Gang" (1930).

Pluto loves digging, hiding and chewing bones! Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse appear as a couple in many cartoons.

Wile E Coyote and Road Runner

Well, this has to be one of the funniest animated "couples" on TV.

A coyote tries to catch the roadrunner and eat him but with no success on each and every episode, oh boy you should see his face when everything fails.

If you haven't seen this you should.

Tom and Jerry!

Tom and Jerry; the fight between these two guys still goes on since the 1940's.

Tom, a cat, and Jerry, a mouse, make pranks to each other on every episode (from biting each others tails to smashing frying pans on their heads)

It is very funny to watch and it is suitable for all ages! Don't forget the pop corn!

Spider-man!

Peter Benjamin Parker

A man (see subtitle), bitten by a spider has now super powers with abilities like walking on walls and throwing spider-web from his hands!

Defender of evil and crime...

We all know spider-man don't we?

The Flintstones!

Fred Flintstone

He is your average caveman! His wife: Wilma Flintstone, His job: Crane Operator

Together with his friends they give you a fantastic series of episodes.

His catchphrase when happy : "Yabba-Dabba-Doo!"

He mostly likes playing bowling as he has incredible bowling skills.

He is short tempered and unfortunate when comes to betting money.

The Simpsons!

Homer Jay Simpson

He is lazy and his IQ very low. He is really funny to watch!

He loves donuts, loves his family even though sometimes he gets so angry he want's to beat up everyone!

He works at the Springfield Nuclear plant (imagine that)

There are almost 500 episodes of The Simpsons series.

The series is created by Matt Groening!

There's a question for you!

Who do you like most from these cartoon characters?

My favorite cartoon was Top Cat. I loved the way he always looked out for his friends. My second favorite was Tom and Jerry. Do you sense a cat theme here?

Nice lens, although Captain Planet seems a little out of place among all the other classics. Bugs Bunny still cracks me up.

Good lens, but there are lots more you could add. I never heard of Captain Planet. I'd vote for Rocky and Bullwinkle, if they were on your list.

Tom and Jerry are my favourite from those listed here, but my all time fav has to be the Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote cartoons. Coyote's face when it at goes wrong puts me in stitches every time.
