Top 5 uplifting websites to make your day!

Updated on June 22, 2013

Who doesn't need to add a little joy to their day?

I have to admit, my life for the past ten years has been in warp drive. Though I have tried to make it a point to stay positive, it is not always possible when being bombarded from everywhere with negativity and up to the minute news of all the bad stuff that goes on around us.

I made this little list to share with you some of the best places I have found to grab a laugh, a thoughtful moment or an idea that may help you not only keep your head above water, but may actually help you fill your cup!

The importance of my 'Joy List'

You may have heard that happiness is a temporary place. It's true. That 'happy' feeling we get is usually caused by something external, and when that thing goes away, so does the feeling.

The 'thing' can be a person, some form of entertainment, a feeling ( ie: romantic love), a job, any sort of loss.

thing + me = happy

me + thing gone = happy gone

Well, that's a very simplified example, but mostly accurate.

In our world today, especially since the introduction of social media, we have a lot of information to take in. We have a lot of things to make us 'happy', but when I write here about my joy list, I am not just talking about going to a website that will make you briefly happy, or a place where you can laugh at a video and forget your troubles for 15 minutes (although you most certainly will!)

My Joy List contains important places where I go to re-charge myself, to re-fill my cup as it were. I go to these places to remind myself that there is a joy inside of me that is always there. Sometimes I just need to be reminded.

It's more like:

Me = Joy

We are one in the same and my joy cannot be taken away, it can be shadowed, but it's always there inside me.

Well, enough about me - let's get you to those sites!

(Oh hey, how did that picture of Buster get in here? Oh yes, he constantly reminds me to be joyful!).

My top 5 Joyful Websites!

Here is my list. I can always be found hanging around these sites, and am involved with a few of them directly, for work or as a volunteer!

A good read can go a long way!

This little book actually made me write to SoulPancake and ask them if I could work with them! I have now been writing for their website for a year and a half - this book will change the way you think.

Peace Is Every Step: The Path of Mindfulness in Everyday Life

I read this is a young person and it has truly inspired my life and the way I think. This book is priceless.
