In Robin Hood; Princes of Thieves Lady Marian played by Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, attends mass. A lot happens during the church scene. We see the Sheriff of Nottingham (Alan Rickman) flirt with her and gives her a knife and we see Robin Hood and the Sheriff’s first encounter.
During this memorable part Marian wears a brown gown with a matching veil. The gown has some heavy embroidery along the sleeves.

It’s made for moire silk or water silk, Moire Silk is typically used for more formal gown but here with pattern cut on the bias the a diagonal pattern is very pretty and yet so subtle. The buttons on the front of the bodice look like jewels. The neckline is a wide yet high neck-line which is very flattering. The sleeves are puffed and there is a gold ribbon at the shoulder. The dress has a lot of subtle details that make it feel like a formal gown.
