Relax with 10 beautiful croatian ballads

I wanted to share with you some of my favorite Croatian love songs and ballads. This 10 are great love song, and this is something what me and my husband love to listen and dance to when we are in romantic mood. Strangely enough, our 3,5 years old son also enjoys them and they calm him down before he goes to sleep.

People here in Croatia often use them as wedding songs.

This is in my opinion, the best Croatian musician. He is a songwriter and makes song for many other Croatian musicians and singers.

There is interesting story about his album Mirakul (english miracle). At the time, he was established singer and songwriter, but didn't exactly earn a lot of money. And for this album he didn't wan't any compromises, he had a vision and he didn't have enough funds. He sold out almost everything from the house, but the piano to raise the money for producing the album. At the end, the album was very successful, and still is the best and the best quality album of all times in Croatia.

Gibonni usually writes the lyrics of his songs on a dalmatian dialect, that is used in Dalmatia, the seaside region of Croatia.

I don't have words for this, I just love this song.

Neno Belan is another Croatian songwriter. I used to listen his music when I was a kid, but this one of his recent songs. Back in 80s he had a band called Djavoli (Devils)

I could listen to this song over and over again

This is one of his song from the 80s, while he was in the band Djavoli. For me, it is one of the most romantic Croatian love songs.

I'm actually amazed that this song still sounds great to me, after more than 20 years

Luky is another songwriter from Dalmatia (I guess I have a thing for songwriters). This song is from his debut album named "Ararita".

From 1987 to 1992 he was the member of the band Djavoli, like Neno Belan.

He is the founder of Ararita foundation which helps abandoned children.

I played this song to my son when he was a baby and couldn't sleep, it worked like a charm.

If you close your eyes and listen to this love song, you can almost feel the waves in melody

Just imagine listening to this, on a warm summer evening, somewhere by the sea, with a summer breeze in your hair and your loved one beside you...

Luka Nizetic is very perspective young Croatian singer. He was a discovery for me, because I don't listen to radio station much, so I heard his songs when he was already pretty popular.

This is Luka's audio CD and it was his debut album with "Ponekad pozelim" song, along with some other great songs.

Another one of great love songs. And another one that my son finds very calming.

This is Luka's second album "Slobodno disem" with song "U mislima". I'm so happy and amazed that I found so many Croatian songs and albums on Amazon.

translation: kao ogledala - eng. like mirrors

Animatori are the Croatian band founded in the 80s. They have very specific sound, and they don't have many romantic songs or ballads.

This song is special, the translation goes something like this:

Like the mirrors / Small and shiny / Your eyes / .... / When you look at me / I see myself in them.....

Maybe it is not the best translation, it is hard to translate the songs and lyrics, but you can understand the point :)

This is yet another one from Gibonni. It's a song from one of his earlier albums.

Another little info about him: my husband used to work in one croatian discography company and he got to know most of the Croatian musicians and singers. And he says for Gibonni that he is the kindest, most natural person that he ever met. He is true artist who only cares about his family and his music.

Yes, Croatia is small, and rather insignificant country by global standards. But we have a very rich history and culture, and beautiful nature.
