2012 Underworld Soundtrack List Features Evanescence, Linkin Park, The Cure, Ministry & More

Updated on August 1, 2013

Composer Paul Haslinger Returns to Score 4th Underworld: Awakening Movie

For the fourth kick a#% Kate Beckinsale vampire werewolf fantasy action flick, Sony Pictures is going all out releasing not one but two Underworld Awakening Soundtrack Lists in 2012, one with the score by composer Paul Haslinger and the other compiled with songs from the movie by music supervisors Eric Craig & Brian McNelis.

Actually, for the entire Underworld Series, the film's producers have always splurged on releasing separate soundtracks for both the music and score so there are now a total of 8 Underworld soundtrack albums available.

From the music department of the Underworld Movie Series has been composer Paul Haslinger and the music supervision team of Eric Craig & Brian McNelis with the exception of the second movie Underworld: Evolution which was supervised only by McNelis and Haslinger was replaced only on this one film by Marco Beltrami. This has allowed the movie soundtracks of Underworld to maintain a certain tonal quality and the latest installment does not disappoint.

For the 2012 Soundtrack List For Underworld Awakening, Craig and McNelis selected 17 tracks including music by Evanescence, Linkin Park, The Cure, Minisry, Lacuna Coil, The Naked and Famous, Lacey Sturm of Flyleaf featuring Geno Lenardo, Stella Katsoudas of Sister Soleil featuring Geno Lenardo, Black Light Burns, William Control, Civil Twilight, & SONS, 8MM, Ryan T.Hope of The Lifeline featuring Geno Lenardo, Combichrist, Collide and Justin Lassen featuring Silent Fury.

With this latest movie installation, Underworld fans old and new are revisiting the movie's original soundtracks and you'll find Amazon has the back catalogue of Underworld Movie Soundtracks climbing their MP3 download charts as well as specific music categories such as "Goth", "Alternative Rock", "Indie & Lo-Fi" & "Dream Pop". The first album from 2003 is especially worth revisiting with music by David Bowie, Puscifer, Milla, Johnette Napolitano, and more.

The 2012 Underworld Awakening 3D movie starring Kate Beckinsale, Stephen Rea, Michael Ealy, Theo James, India Eisley and Charles Dance was released January 20, 2012.

"Made of Stone" By Evanescene - Live Version

Here's a great live version of Evanescence performing live in 2011. They're simply awesome. You can also download "Made of Stone" from their album Evanescence (Deluxe Version) although the version used in the 2012 Underworld Awakening Soundtrack is a remix.

Lacey Sturm from Flyleaf & Geno Lenardo - Christian Metal Rocks the House

If you like Evanescence but don't know Flyleaf, let me proudly introduce to you lead vocalist, Lacey Sturm from the Christian rock metal band, Flyleaf. Yup, Christians rocking the house on the Underworld Awakening Soundtrack hailing from Texas.

Flyleaf released their first self-titled debut album in 2005 along with a 6 song EP of the same name. Their follow-up album was released in 2009 called "Memento Mori". "Remember to Live" is a 7 song EP that was issued in 2010. Click on any of the albums below to hear album tracks from Flyleaf.

No stranger to movie soundtracks, according to WIkipedia, Flyleaf's song "I'm So Sick" has been included on the Live Free or Die Hard Soundtrack & "Fesident Evil: Extinction" and a cover of "What's This?" recorded on Nightmare Revisited from Nightmare Before Christmas. Plus Flyleaf has made their mark on video games with a Simlish version of "Cassie" on The Sims 2 expansion pack Teen Style Stuff. "I'm So Sick" is on Rock Band while "Tina" is on the companion disk set for Guitar Hero 3.

"Trip the Darkness" - Lacuna Coil

Hailing from Milan, the female driven vocals from Italian metal songstress Cristina Scabbia pierce the strong bass and drum lines of Lacuna Coil with "Trip the Darkness" from their 2012 release Dark Adrenaline.

What speaks to their strong vocals and song writing is listening to their music unplugged with beautiful guitar accompaniment. Compare and contrast both videos, the second, an acoustic performance at Virgin Radio featuring Cristina Scabbia and Andrea Ferro on lead vocals.
