Tallahassee's Original Reggae/Fusion Band Sway Jah Vu Gains Momentum with New Songs
Truly Original Reggae Fusion Band Wayback Whensday
Wayback Whensday started in 2011 as a local band playing cover songs at the many college bars around Tallahassee, Florida. This band has evolved into being a very hotly requested and talented reggae fusion band that is definitely going places!
Original members Travis Cockerham and Jason Amey met at a local house party back in 2010 and decided to jam to liven things up a little bit. Since then, Both Amey and Cockerham stuck to their instruments and their dreams through the bands early transitional stages, while many other prospective members came and went.
Their fortitude is beginning to pay off as they play most of the popular venues in Tallahassee, Jacksonville, St. George Island, Panama City Beach, Destin and as far away as Tampa. The band was also invited to play in the Bahamas, but were unable to because of a scheduling conflict.
Travis Cockerham writes most of their original songs, while playing lead guitar and singing vocals. Original band member Jason Amey is a talented drummer who keeps the rhythm going, as well as singing back-up vocals. Logan Pepper plays a mean bass and also contributes with back-up vocals. Finally, James Wilson rounds out the band with his terrific saxophone playing, helping to bring a distinctive sound to their songs.
All the band's members have been inspired from several different genres including roots in reggae, rap, jazz, Indie rock and others to create a very hard hitting sound that keeps the audience energy high and dancing.
Travis Cockerham composes original melodies with meaningful lyrics drawn from his experiences in songs such as Friday Night, Lullaby and Higher Ideals, which are all on their first demo. Friday Night is available to download via Amazon or ITunes, with their demo still being processed for sale at Amazon.
The band is currently spending time in the studio compiling the songs for their first full album to be released later in 2014. Shows for 2014 are just starting to book, so look for the coming events section of their press release to be updated with new show dates.
