What Will You Do In World War Z?

Updated on December 22, 2013

I recently watched the action packed thriller World War Z on DVD and I am kicking myself that I did not see it in the theaters. I usually take the extra time to do so with this kind of film. I found it to be above the ordinary for movies of its type.

The plot lines unfold from a family drama to a race against time rather quickly. I found it thought provoking and inspiring as far as a sci-fi thrillers go. The survival theme here is part of what makes it a great movie for me. These actors fill their roles well in a story line that would normally be a B grade film topic.

There are very tender moments as well as scary, RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!! sections carefully woven throughout this story.

What would you do is a question I would love to have you answer after you see this movie. (No spoilers here, in this review!)

The twists and turns had me jumping in my seat which is something I have not experienced in a few years. I loved the way the character, Gerry, played by Brad Pitt, is so dedicated to his family but also torn in a decision he must make, not to just save his family, but to save everyone he possibly can. These scenes are frighteningly good and I truly enjoyed this thrill ride of a movie. I knew 15 minutes into the film that this is a brand new addition to my science fiction favorites.

The theme for this film reminds me of another favorite sci-fi flick, I Am Legend, Starring Will Smith.

I Am Legend describes the demise of society in a world wide epidemic. I have loved movies like this since I watched the Omega Man and Night Of The Living Dead when I was a teenager.

Zombie movies are such creepy fun, but I often wonder what the possibilities for survival could be in this scenario. How can you run and hide? How could you even maintain a day around a mass of flesh-eating undead?

I Am Legend

Meet Dr. Robert Neville. He is the last man on earth, alive, or so he thought... Brilliant adaptation of the book by Richard Matheson.

I have a deep respect for any actor that can hang out on a movie set around zombified people in make up and not have nightmares about it.

What is your favorite Zombie movie?

I enjoyed World War Z, although I'm told it's completely different from the book (what isn't right?). My favorite though is 28 Days Later. For zombie comedy, it's all about Shaun of the Dead.

I saw World War Z a few weeks ago and I too wish I had of seen it in a theatre. It was a great movie. I had a hard time choosing from your list as it was a toss up between I am Legend and World War Z.

I just watched this a week or two ago and I have to say I was highly disappointed. I thought it was a total rip off of I Am Legend and the end left so many open ended questions. Of course, I haven't seen Omega Man but I hear they're all a rip off of that one, so I need to see. I love them all! Zombieland is a favorite for the flat out humor in it. Can't beat that with a stick ~ don't forget to double tap!

The walking dead. But I don't like the idea of you children watching it. But then again, there are so many things kids watch today that i don't agree with.

      Cheers from DOWNUNDER

The Walking Dead is great for the ongoing scenario of survival. I know it's a series and not just one movie though.

I live in the remote Ethiopian Highlands and the only films we can buy in our nearest town are pirated copies that may have signs of originating from China or Russia. This means that I should be able to buy 'World War Z' very cheaply but the quality may or may not be good. If I've seen a pirated version of a film and I like it a lot, I buy it from Amazon. I've seen the trailer for 'World War Z' and it looks action-packed. Thanks for not giving anything away - I appreciate that.
