A few gems from Avenues and Streets of New York

When I first saw the display windows of the woman's section of Bergdorf Goodman shop ,5th Avenue, I was simply a-m-a-z-e-d ! The designer, who has created the display is an artist him/herself,whose talent for 'visual merchandising' can mesmerise passer-byes.

I was looking for articles on 'visual merchandising' in the internet .This was when I searched for more NY -shop specific images for this subject, I found window displays of Bergdorf Goodman were at the 'top of the heap', so far as NY shop windows are concerned. I searched for the photos of window displays of Paris and was wondering which City can boast of more innovative displays.Photos of the displays of London somehow, did not impress me as much.

The other interesting point I noted is about two window displays of Helmut Lang's dresses for women. These displays were created at Barneys .... the theme being 'DIE FOR FASHION'. These displays created controversy as the displays showed mannequins, wearing Helmut Lang dresses in distorted postures with 'blood' spattered on the windows.Reference link : http://chhavinanda.wordpress.com/2009/07/21/lets-shop-barneys/2009_07_barneysshot1/.

There was an article in Daily News on these window displays and Simon Doonan, Creative Director of Barneys arranged to remove these displays.Reference link : http://www.nydailynews.com/money/2009/07/22/2009-07-22_bloody_mess_as_barneys_kills_display.html.
