Without a Paddle Movie Review
The Boys are Back in Town
Without a Paddle is a movie not many people remember. But that's really a shame because in my opinion it's one of the best comedy/adventure movies ever made. The actors work so well together you would swear they've been buddies for years and Seth Green is absolutely a hilarious!
The Adventure Begins
Without A Paddle is about four guys that have been friends since childhood; Jerry, Dan, Tom and BIlly. Sadly Billy dies in a para-sailing accident and the three remaining friends come together for his funeral. After the funeral they decide to take to visit the old tree house where they all spent so much time as children. Jerry ends up finding an old treasure chest up there and they all remember back when they were obsessed with the legend of D.B Cooper and his missing treasure. They find maps that Billy had worked on before he died and realized that he had organized the treasure hunt for them all to go on together just like they had dreamed about as kids. After much deliberation they all decide to drop all their adult responsibilities for a while and go on a once in a lifetime adventure in honor of Billy. They brave the cold wilderness, hungry bears, and raging rivers in a comedy that will keep you laughing all the way through.
I can not for the life of me understand why critics had such negative things to say about this movie. No it's not artsy fartsy but it is a fun, entertaining movie with a great message. I saw this movie in the theater when it was first released with some friends I've known since grade school and we all really related to it. It made us realize how important it is to cherish those childhood friendships and do everything you can to not drift apart.
