Woody Allen's To Rome With Love Soundtrack List and Opera Songs Featured in the Movie
Songs from the Movie Previously Titled "The Bop Decameron" & "Nero Fiddled"
For Woody Allen's homage to Italy, here's a complete list of all the songs in the movie on the To Rome With Love Soundtrack List. Like Allen's other travelogues, the music on his latest love affair with Italy is as passionate and lovely as his soundtracks to Midnight in Paris & Vicky Cristina Barcelona.
16 songs are included on the Soundtrack To Rome With Love including classic songs from Italian operas like Tosca, La Traviata, Pagliacci & "Nessun Dorma" from Turandot with most tracks available as individual downloads from Amazon.com or iTunes.
The track "Non dimenticar le mie parole" performed by Emilio Livi and Trio Lescano has that classic Woody Allen feel that you could easily hear being on a soundtrack to say, Radio Days if it weren't for it being sung in Italian.
It wouldn't be a Woody Allen movie, if the soundtrack didn't at least include some classic jazz and "Three Times Bossa" by Mop Mop and "When Your Lover Has Gone" by Eddie Condon & Orchestra nicely fit the bill. In fact, the music may be one of the best things about the movie and that includes some of the singing in the shower opera numbers.
To Rome With Love is Allen's first on screen appearance in quite some time and he pretty much plays up his quirky over the top self with his wife played by Judy Davis. The award winning Australian born actress is one of those actresses which he probably has a working shorthand having worked with her before in Husbands and Wives & Deconstructing Harry.
The film also stars Alec Baldwin, Roberto Benigni, Penelope Cruz, Jesse Eisenberg, Greta Gerwig & Ellen Page. I know some people loathed the movie, but I liked it for much the same reasons as To Paris, With Love. Italy is bathed in a romantic, warm Mediterranean light. It captures much of the draw of the city. However, some of the narrative is confusing and not quite explained such as Baldwin's character in relation to Jesse Eisenberg. Ellen Page's self-indulgent character gets annoying after awhile and aside from Allen continually telling us what makes her attractive, she just doesn't have the same charisma as say a Diane Keaton and that suspension of disbelief is a lot to swallow. Still, I think it's worth looking at on DVD even though the movie's a bit of a farce at times.
A splashy world premiere took place in Rome and the movie is being first released in Italy on April 20, 2012 before being released in the U.S. on June 22, 2012. The movie was then expanded to additional theaters on July 6, 2012 when it was released to over 600 theaters.
Woody Allen and his producers tend to release about a movie a year. Allen's sister, Letty revealed in a PBS documentary that they've been successful with foreign financing on his latest movies and they've got a fairly regular schedule in place of when Woody puts pen to paper for a screenplay, his shooting, production and editing schedule while allowing time to attend film festival screenings and other publicity for films that require his attendance. His next film, Blue Jasmine which celebrates both San Francisco and New York gets released July 26, 2013.

Did You Like To Rome With Love? - Have You Seen the Movie Yet?
Besides Manhattan being one of my all time favorite Woody Allen movies, I was elated with the veteran director's homage to the city of lights. However, I've heard terrible things about his latest ode to Italy. If you've seen the movie, what do you think? Was the music great but the movie not so great? Is it worthy to at least catch on Netflix?
