XXX: Return of Xander Cage

Updated on February 24, 2017

Back Again

Vin Diesel just doesn’t care about what you say, he is working to satisfy his fans and he has no problem with that. He is big on Nostalgia for his past adventures as Riddick, Toretto, and Xander Cage. He likes to bring international stars to attract audiences from all-over the world and in his return as Xander Cage he brings with him Chinese mega star Donnie Yen (Hero, IP man, Star Wars: Rogue One), Bollywood super star Deepika Padukone, Thailand’s legend Tony Jaa (Ong Bak, Furious 7), and Cameos from Brazilian football superstar Neymar and the infamous rapper and actor Ice Cube. “Triple X: The Return of Xander Cage” is a showy movie with no real value or essence, it is a movie that tries so hard to be cool in every single scene and partially succeeds.

You know what you are in for when you decide to watch a movie like this. It is big, loud, and very silly. The atmosphere is cheerful and colorful so even if you are wondering about how an absurd movie like this got made in the first place, you will find yourself smiling at the silliness of the whole thing and enjoying some good action scenes and half of the one liners because the other half is cheesy and simply unbearable. The characters are fun but cartoonish, Diesel is still charismatic as a leading action man, and the movie feels like a trashy version of Mission: Impossible as Mr. Diesel decided to take away the individuality of Xander Cage and assemble another fast and furious team.

Mindless action

Another empty-headed action movie with unbelievable action scenes and a team of colorful individuals fighting bad people to save the world from destruction. As you can see there is no need to dig further in the story because it doesn’t exist but then again most of the fans are not expecting one and Diesel won’t waste any time on a relevant story, instead he will give the fans what they want: Bombastic and cool action scenes. The question is will the fans keep showing up for the same movie again and again?

“Triple X: The Return of Xander Cage” will make money at the box office especially on the international level and all eyes will be on the amount as to see if the intake will justify establishing another ongoing franchise like “The Fast and the Furious”. Even for serious movie goers, there is a way to enjoy “Triple X: The Return of Xander Cage” and that is adjusting your expectations, turning your brain off, and enjoying the absurdity of the ridiculous action.
