Zombieland - Walking Dead Meet Woody - Tips, Tricks and Snacks for the Zombie Apocalypse

Updated on August 16, 2014

Surviving the zombie apocalypse one day at a time, from a nerd's point of view.

I'm a die hard horror fan, the cheesier the better. Combine the scary with some laughs and I'm paying serious attention.

Zombieland was the perfect cocktail of a classic horror situation and hilarity without losing an ounce of the scare factor. That's not so easily achieved as witnessed by countless box office bombs.

Touring the zombie nation, geek style.

One of my favorite parts of this show was the narration. Our dear narrator is also the main character, known as Columbus.

Young, repressed, shy, afflicted with many a phobia and just as adorable as any nerd ever hoped to be, his narration is like a zombie survival guide for dummies.

This guy has virtually zero hero qualities on the surface. He's weak, skinny, scared and overwhelmed by the whole zombie takeover thing. Who wouldn't be? But seriously, the cool factor is lacking. It just makes him all the more lovable.

Finding a mentor along the way.

To balance out the cool scales, enter Woody Harrelson playing Tallahassee. In this flick, people go by where they originated from. Tallahassee is tough, strong and mostly appears unaffected by the walking death that's taken over, mostly.

While teaching our dear nerd a thing or two about being a man in survival situations, he learns a thing or two himself. Mostly though, he's motivated by one thing and one thing only, an insane desire to find his favorite food, Twinkies.

Now, I've had some wicked chocolate cravings before but this guy takes his Twinkie craving to a level on par with that of the zombies for flesh. You've got to see it. Hilarious.

Add in two street smart girls and you get a decent plot.

Emma Stone plays Wichita, our geek's savvy love interest. Watch as a too cool gal reexamines what a girl looks for in a man after the zombies take over.

Accompanied by her little sister whose only remaining goal in life is to get to the amusement park, Wichita isn't really as tough as she appears.

She's more so but she loves her baby sister and for her will risk it all.

Time to man up.

Check it out to see if our dear geek can find the courage to save the day. Sometimes, no matter how much you plan, life throws you a curve. Follow along to see if our guy has what it takes to hit a home run in the apocalypse or will he follow suit and strike out yet again?

Tag along for the ride as our strange troop of would be heroes meets a few more survivors, such as Bill Murray playing himself. For old time SNL fans, Bill's performance rivals his comedy from back in the day.  Hilarious really doesn't do it justice.

For fast paced zombie action with a strong dose of humor and some serious kick butt zombie slaying, check out the 2009 sensation, Zombieland.

Watch some trailers and a few of my favorite scenes from Zombieland.

Enjoy Woody at his finest as he delves out his philosophy on survival.   He should be the poster boy for snack foods.  It's hysterical.  You have to see what this man will do for sweets.  Your funny bone will thank you.

The zombies take over across the pond. This is one of the funniest zombie movies ever to be released.
