‘Passion’ - Have you heard the word recently?
Tagging successful and skilled people ‘passionate’ is the recent trend. Though both 'ambition' and 'passion' have more than one meaning, the words in this article stick to the following definitions from the Oxford Dictionary website.
Ambition - "a strong desire to do or achieve something"
Passion - "an intense desire or enthusiasm for something".
Now what I am going to tell you about this word ‘Passion’? Actually, nothing new, as you would have seen every possible movie or novel telling you how passionate people live, sacrifice everything for their passion even while suffering to live and so on.
Every now and then we see the phrase ‘Follow your passion’. What is this much hyped word ‘passion’ all about? To say in simple words, passion is something you love doing. It may be writing, cycling, reading, or even a profession. I can hear some of you mock “Ok, then I love watching TV. Is that a passion?” I cannot give you a concrete answer, but you still need to know the difference between entertainment and things which make you happy even if it involves struggles.
How do we realize our passion? While passion uncovers itself gradually, sometimes you need to spend time for self-analysis.
Here comes an excerpt from one of my favourite talks - Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Six Rules of Success. “I'm talking about, not what your parents and teachers want you to be, but you. I’m talking about figuring out for yourselves what makes you happy, no matter how crazy it may sound to other people”.
6 rules of success
If you are one of those persons who is in the difficult phase of yet to realise your passion, self-analysis might clear the fog. List the things you love doing. Segregate the items into productive and entertainment. If finding out things that you love seems a bit harder, try to know about your reading tastes. Your passion may be reflected from what you read the most or what you would like to read.
"Talent is what you excel at,
Passion is what you love,
Success is attained when passion becomes talent or vice-versa." - Me
Once you have realised your passion and potential, your heart will automatically find ways to progress towards your goal. You will never run out of excuses when you are disappointed or on the verge of giving up as passion and perseverance are wonderful partners. They don't leave each other and when one of them is missing, the other cannot live with peace.
Note: Real struggle comes after you realise your passion during the journey towards attaining your goal. But it’s worth it.
