9 Inspiring Movies for Teenage Boys

Updated on October 25, 2017

There are many teenage movies out there, some can quite distressing, horrific, cute or demonstrate the struggles, good times or bad times in high school. I have put together these wonderful, inspiring movies for teenage guys where many vital lessons in life are learned. These include character, life, identity, relationships and many important things that they need throughout their lives.

Brother’s Keeper is about Andy and Pete Goodwynn who are identical twins and have been there for each other every time. Their high school graduation is very close, and Pete has plans to marry the love of his life and then go to seminary. Andy on the other had, has no solid plans now or for his future. But an unfortunate incident occurs by one of the most powerful families and these brothers lives are turned upside down. Pete is framed for murder and Andy is doing everything he cans to save his brother. Will the brothers get justice for the individuals who have done this to them?

This is a powerful story filled with suspense, drama and story of love, relationships, and redemption. It is an amazing movie that was directed splendidly and filled with marvelous acting.

Abel's Field

Abel's Field is about Seth, a high school senior who was abandoned by his father, and left motherless by tragedy. He has to faces enormous stress as he endeavors to support his younger twin sisters. At school, he tolerates bullying from members of the football team. At work, he struggles to earn enough money to pay the bills. At home, he has no one to turn to and to share his struggles. When Seth fights back at the football team, he's accused of causing trouble, got punishment and assigned to an after-school work detail supervised by Seth is amazed to identify that Abel understands his struggles. Abel becomes someone Seth can talk to.

This is a wonderful movie has many lessons to learn. Teenage guys can identify the struggles, challenges and hardships, juggle responsibilities, seek help and encouragement from others and not take on pressures all by themselves and much more.

Kevin Sorbo and Samuel Davis stars in this.

To Save a Life

This movie is about Jake Taylor who in his eyes has everything according to a teenager's viewpoint. This student changes his outlook on life and how he has treated people in the past after a former childhood friend dies and commits suicide. This is a very inspiring movie that will move one's heart from only focusing about popularity and an identity in high school to what's really important.

Forever Strong

This is based on a true story. A teen is the captain of a rugby team, but gets into serious trouble and gets sentenced to a Detention Center. He gets a second chance to play for another team and learns not only to be a great player, but valuable lessons about life, determination, friendships, relating to others and a lot more. He eventually turned his life around and with the help of an amazing coach who taught them to respect themselves and to respect others. This inspiring movie is fun, full of humor, some action and that any life can be transformed.

Coach Carter

This movie is based on a true story. This is a wonderful movie about a coach who was not interested in just having great players, but making these young men care about all aspects of their lives and build character in them. Coach Carter accepted the job of being the basketball coach in a very poor area in California. This was the school that Ken Carter graduated from and left many years ago. Coach Carter was very discouraged by the attitudes of his players and as well as their performance, so you took action to change both. This is a great movie of a coach mentoring his team and it has many lessons any person they can learn from.

The Perks of being a Wallflower

The film begins with 14-year-old Charlie (Logan Lerman) writing a letter to a "Dear Friend" about starting his first year in high school. He writes this letter because he does not feel comfortable to talk to his parents or his siblings about his anxieties. He does have any real friends he can confide in. This very shy, introverted freshman has a lot to deal with since his best friend died. He struggles with fitting in, but two seniors befriends him and welcomes him in their lives. This movie took on many issues that young people face today. It is really good movie.

The Ultimate Gift

This movie has many lessons about life for teenage guys that will help them be mature young men. Jason Stevens thought his grandfather would just hand over his inheritance with no expectations and he would have lots of money. But he was so wrong. Instead the wealthy grandfather who died left instructions from his lawyer for Jason to receive twelve gifts to teach him about life and make him into the man he should be. These gifts showed Jason what is most important things in life. Take a look at what they are. This is a wonderful family movie with lots to learn from.

What an inspiring, entertaining movie based on a true story. It is about the greatest moment in sports history. Absolutely amazing for teenage boys. This movie is filled with hockey action. Kurt Russell who plays Herb Brooks is the new coach of the US men's hockey team. They will compete in the Winter Olympic Games and Herb has an enormous task ahead of him. The Soviets prevailed the world's ice hockey and US did not succeed in their last attempt. But Herb has to face many other challenges of creating effective team, the competition and other things. This is a great, awesome movie.

This is a great inspirational movie about believing in yourself and the dreams within you, when no one else thinks it is possible. Rudy wanted to play football in spite of his low grades. He was not very athletic and not quite the size of other players. Most people thought he was not big enough, good enough or smart enough. They thought he would be just like his father and brothers and work at the steel mill. For a time he did, but he was determined and persevered until he got what he desired. This is an incredible true story.

I haven't seen a lot of those, but this reminded me of October Sky. Really good film for teens focused on father/son relationships.
